Busy Day

Yesterday was a busy crochet day. I worked on That Damn Blanket, the cotton mini-skirt, and finished one side of the Trellis pillowcase. I had to completely pull out the other side of the pillowcase because instead of making a square, I had a pretty good pinwheel going. I still suck at doing squares "in the round". I just can't seem to spot the corners right. As much as I'd like to have the pillowcase done, it'll be good practice to do the side over again. The one finished side isn't great, but it's not nearly so far off, and I think once it's stretched over the form, it should be okay. I'm slowly moving away from "okay" and "good enough" with some of my projects. Sure, the newer practice ones can be "okay", but for projects and techniques I've been doing a while, I really need to get past it. I laid That Damn Blanket out for pictures the other day and found out I'd actually been doing everything just right *up to* the moment I panicked. *That's* when I messed up some edges. Everything before and after that is just fine. So much for second- and third-guessing myself. And so far the mini-skirt is going well. I still don't know what sort of yarn I'd use for a second one, but technically this one is coming out just fine. I think I figured out what went wrong with my Temple Skirt too. I haven't gotten around to fixing it, but as the cartoon used to say, "knowing is half the battle".

Today is shaping up to be another good crochet day. The weather is still cool enough to work on the big blanket, so I ought to get cruising on that. I need to get down to the library to return the movies from the last couple of days and to get some new ones. Quick reviews: "Seconds" with Rock Hudson - rocks! "Woman of the Year" with Hepburn and Tracy - rocks! "The Singing Detective" with Robert Downey, Jr. - sucks ass! "The Trip" with no one you've ever heard of - worth a shot. Not fabulous, but very sweet and full of guy kisses. "The Elegant Universe" with Dr. Brian Greene (nonfiction) - rocks, but not so great for crochet. I was too busy looking at all the visual explanations for the various concepts, and checking out Greene's ass.

I also need to resend the e-flyer for the fundraiser, with the corrected date for the Vendor Fair. I may yet be able to finish everything I've currently got started for it!
