My sexy new toy

Over the holiday, I took my mom's sewing machine that I'd inherited into the shop to get it serviced. It's a Husqvarna that mom bought used probably 10 years ago. She used it mostly for quilting, and used it pretty often when her studies allowed it, right up until she was physically and cognitively unable to. Then it sat in storage for several months. So it seemed like a good idea to get the usual check up and lube job. Unfortunately, the guy at the shop said it was a minimum $120 just for the make and model, and probably *at least* another $100 for a very likely component replacement. Possibly more. Add to this, even with the fix, the machine *might* last another 5-10 years. Maybe.
M asked him "what would a new machine cost?"
Which led to a conversation and a short tour about the store.
I am now the proud owner of a a brand new sewing machine.
