Naughty Knitting and Kinky Crochet fundraising event to benefit Camp Starlight!
This fundraising event is to raise money for Camp Starlight, a summer camp for children who have or whose lives have been affected by AIDS and HIV.
I’m looking for anyone interested in fiber arts - knitting, crocheting, quilting, embroidery, machine sewing, weaving; you name it, we want it!
Items will be sold at the Portland Leather Alliance Vendor Fair on October 1, 2005 --update: Saturday, October 22
What to make?
--Leather Pride/Bear Pride/Rainbow/etc. motif items (hats, scarves, blankets)
--Sexy, sensual, kinky items (mini-skirts, sweaters, “willie warmers”, accessory bags for clothespins or condoms)
--Fun stuff (stuffed animals, embellishments, specialty hankies, trick towels).
Imagination is the key! Not sure what to make or how to make it? I have some ideas and patterns (including for a knit single tail whip!) to get you going.
Where is the money going? Items will be sold at the Portland Leather Alliance Vendor Fair October 22, 2005. All money is to be donated to Camp Starlight. Leftover items will be donated two ways. Clothing items such as scarves and hats will be donated to local shelters, and other items such as condom cozies & bustiers will be donated as two baskets to Mr. & Ms. Oregon Leather as contributions to their fundraising baskets when they compete for their national titles in 2006.
Not a big knitter? Schedule too cramped for crochet? Even one item helps us out. Or we can team you up with someone to work on a project. If three or four people each do a few squares, we’ll have a blanket done in no time! Or someone with beginning skills can do a basic section, and someone with more experience can add embellishments or do a more complicated part. You can do most of the work by yourself, and we can make some social times to work together and get to know each other. It’s up to you.
