Request for resources - queer, trans, LBGT, intersex

Jan 11, 2010 18:03

- it's likely to become an ongoing series, in addition to my asking you lot for your various views. These are for an information and resource website for students.

1. Some people self-define their orientation as 'queer', [edited, thanks to artremis: here I use it to mean] 'attracted to people/not straight', [though I know it is used to mean lots of different things] in an acknowledgement of the lack of a gender binary and as an alternative to the term 'bisexual.' (Some bisexuals also acknowledge the lack of binary but continue to use this term.)
Any more comprehensive explanations of this?
Any messageboards? Groups?

2. Some people have questioned the inclusion of T in LBGT groups. Obviously I know that the T is vital and important, but I'd like some links to more formal explanations: things I can email or post, things that will say what I know in a comprehensive and eloquent form!

3. I don't suppose anyone knows of intersex support groups in the UK? I've linked to UKIA, but they don't seem to run meets or do any other face-to-face talking stuff.

Know of anything? Helpers will receive virtual hugs and virtual cake!
