History: Michaela's mother was overjoyed to finally have a daughter after three boys. She was doted on, treated as mommy's little princess, and there were high hopes for marrying her off to a rich boy. But she had three older brothers. They jokingly called her Mike so long it stuck, took her out to play in the mud, taught her to fight--little by little, they ruined their mother's perfect little daughter by turning her into a rowdy, rambuctious child instead of a prim and proper girl. Eventually, mom threw up her hands and gave up, but she never stopped nagging in the hopes that Mike would one day turn into a proper lady.

Her father discovered religion late in life, leaving his family to join the Citadel when Mike was five or so. He still came around to talk with them and to share Cita's word, but it was distant, like he was a warrior in a far-off country who returned home so infrequently he didn't know his family anymore. Her brothers, one by one, joined the army when they came of age, leaving Mike alone with her mother's nagging.

She got sick of it pretty fast. Her brothers had always told her not to join the army--the women captured in fights abroad suffered horribly under their enemies--so instead, once she was of age, she ran away to join the Guard in Tyrol. Her mother was livid, but her father was thrilled. Now he could see her whenever he wanted! How wonderful!

Mike actually reconnected with her father quite quickly. He was such better company than her mother! And Cita's message, love and peace and all that, it was something she took to heart once he was around to give it properly. She turned over the idea of joining the Citadel every now and then, but the Guard suited her personality better. She couldn't be a quiet, demure, preachy type no matter how hard she tried. She was better off being Cita's sword than His voice.

When one of the Cancellari retired, she was given the opportunity to become Cita's literal sword. She had been expressing interest to her father for years, and he put in some good words for her, enough for her to get a serious evaluation. In the end, she was passed up for someone who managed to thwart an assassination on the Occia. Admirable! She accepted the defeat with grace. The second time, a year later, she was passed up for an ex-soldier who had earned a name for himself fighting in Egypt. That one, she was a little jealous of.

The third time was the charm. There were no incredibly impressive candidates to compete with, and both her service record and prior attempts worked in her favour. At 27, she was finally made a Cancellarius, and she plans to stay one until she dies.

Personality: Mike is opinionated, outspoken, and fearless. She doesn't put up with shit from anybody and gives as good as she gets. Fuck with her and she'll fuck you up. Fuck with her Occia, and she'll do worse than that. This means that on the surface, she does kind of seem like a bitch. Fact of the matter is, if you're not trying to piss her off, Mike's actually pretty easygoing. She's a fun person, even if she might throw around offhand comments about how she doesn't like your face or your mother must've dropped you on your head a few times. It's all in good fun and she expects the same in return. She is not for the thin-skinned and seems to be made of elephant-hide herself.

While she is capable of showing respect where it is due, she tends to be very irreverent and speaks to everyone as an equal. Since becoming a Cancellari, she's tried to start watching her mouth, buuuut she has trouble. Mike is the foul-mouthed one of the bunch, by far.

The hardest part about being a Cancellari, for her, is the vow of celibacy. She cheats. Ever since Mike was young, she was kissing all the girls, and at this age she tells herself, well, women don't count. That's not sex as Cita sees it. She still flirts, but anything beyond that is on the down-low, highly secretive, because she knows it'll still get her in trouble even if it doesn't really count.

To her, the Occia is a child in need of nurturing and protection. She is, perhaps, the only person Mike is not casually rude to. The bride of Cita deserves better. Mike treats her like a younger sister and is very protective of her.

As for Others... Mike has met a few during her time in the Guard, and she thinks they aren't all bad. Cita wouldn't let them exist if they didn't have a place in the world. But the ones who prey on or attack humans need to be watched closely and put down when they get out of line. Cita also made tigers, after all.

Appearance: Mike is tall and muscular, and combined with her overbearing attitude that can make her seem very intimidating. She carries herself with confidence; there's an air about her that says she doesn't give a fuck what you think. Her choice in clothing tends to vary radically, from frilly frou-frou dresses to subdued men's suits (though no one would ever mistake her for a man with a bosom as generous as hers). It depends on how she's feeling that day! Whatever shit she gets for dressing in men's clothes does not bother her, because hey, she's a Cancellari, fuck you, she can do whatever she wants. She does, however, try to keep to the more socially acceptable clothes for official functions.

Her blonde hair is kept scandalously short, and usually styled in some eye-catching, unusual way that keeps it out of her face (whenever it's long enough to matter). She has brown eyes, thickly outlined in kohl most times to hide her pale eyelashes, and perfectly arched eyebrows that are also lined in kohl so as to not look nonexistent. There's a pattern of three birthmarks under her left eye that she says lend character to her face. She's naturally quite pretty, but cares so little about being pretty that it's more of a "cleans up well" sort of good-looking.

Languages Known: English (literate)
Skills: Prett damn good with a sword and can also fistfight like a champ, smooth-talkin' all the ladies, can actually quote the Epistles quite well despite the lack of training

Weaknesses: Her casualness makes her seem disrespectful, tsk tsk about that not being able to give up sex thing 8|
