In a street in Chicago, there's a dragon the size of a large dog walking down the center of it. It sprays powerful bursts of water, instead of fire, and it's been spraying people up against walls, but leaving them otherwise uninjured.
Most people on the street are running in the opposite direction, screaming while they go.
David Hansen sits on the backboard of a bench and watches this whole fiasco play out, while he smokes his cigarette.
There's a journal under his feet. It's not that he doesn't find scary monsters scary, but a dragon that squirts water isn't all that threatening, and it doesn't seem to notice him at all, since he's sitting still and not getting in its way. It's interesting. It's like watching something out of a movie, poured out on the street in front of him.
Some of the water sprays back, hits him in the face. He flicks it away again with a smooth gesture of his hand and lights a new cigarette.
However, this all does look odd. Everyone is running in panic, there is a dragon, and he's... sitting there. But no one seems to notice him either, which is par for the course, so who cares?
One more day in Chicago, which is pretty much nothing at all like Topeka.
