Love is the best cure for wounds
The first punch landed on his cheek, he felt his jaw brake instantly, the next one in his stomach, he fell to the ground as the robber laid into him even more. Five minutes later the ordeal was over he just had to get back to Jess.
He stood up slowly and walked to her apartment where she was, Jess had been told to take the day off. He knocked on the door and collapsed on the step, he hoped she was awake. He needed Jess, he need her to hold him. About 2 minutes later Jess opened the door and she kneeled down to him worried.
“Leon, Leon what happened?” Jess asked as she helped her up into the apartment and helped him to the couch. “Talk to me sweetie tell me what happened?”
Tears fell down his eyes and he just leaned into her arms crying with pain. Jess pulled him onto his lap holding him near and began to stroke his hair,
“Don’t let go.” Leon begged and Jess looked very concerned as she held him near,
“What happened Leon, come on talk to me?” She asked again gently and Leon began to shake like crazy.
“I...I couldn’t.....couldn’t stop him...I couldn’t stop him. I caught him breaking into a house and then....then he began to bash me.....me up.” Leon cried into her arms. Jess started to stroke his hair more,
“Can you show me where you got punched?” Jess asked and Leon began to cry harder.
She pulled up his shirt and frowned seeing the bruises and grabbed some bandages and carefully put them around his stomach making Leon flinched.
"It hurts" He cried harder and started to cough from crying so much.
"Shh, it's ok, just relax otherwise it'll hurt more." Jess said.
"It's too late for that." He whispered, Jess leant over and kissed him.
"Shut up." He nodded and did as he was told and Jess finished off bandaging him. Leon looked at her and she saw he was scared, she pulled her to her lap holding him near.
"I'm scared." He admitted and Jess nodded,
"Its ok to be scared." Jess told him as she rocked him back and forth.
"I dunno what happened, I couldn't stop him Jess." Leon sighed and Jess frowned as she started to stroke his brownish hair.
"It wasn't your fault Leon, none of this was your fault." Jess told him and looked at the clock to find it 2 in the morning, "You didn't choose, his actions. We should tried to get some sleep.
"What...What if I fall asleep and....and....and it comes back to me in my dreams?" Leon asked.
"It won't, if it does I'll be right next to you. I'm here for you." Jess assured him as she helped him to the bedroom and they laid down to sleep, however it didn't last long because 1 hour later, Leon woke up screaming something awful and he was in tears and was shaking. Jess sit up and crawled in front of him taking him into her arms.
"Leon, shhh they are not here, shhh it was just a dream. You're alright, I'm here, I'm here Leon, Shhh its ok Darling. You are where you belong, safe and sound in my arms. Just cry it out." She comforted him as he sobbed into her arms and swallowed hard. She quickly got the sick bucket and held him as he threw up.
"I...I....I want my gun." Leon suddenly said.
"No, no you can't, you can't have your gun, its not right and it would be irresponsible of me to give it to you at the moment" Jess gently but firmly told him and got up putting the gun into the lockable gun holder and then returned holding him close.
"I....I want the pain to go away Jess, just want this pain to go away." Leon cried as she held him close.
"But using your gun to do it is the wrong way. I would hate it if I lost you." Jess whispered close to tears, she hated Leon speaking this way.
"Jess, I don't know what else to do, i just-" Leon sighed.
"I know hunny, just go to sleep and we'll get you to the hospital in the morning." Jess told him and kissed him lying him in her arms cuddling him close. She felt relieved when he fell asleep.
The next morning she took him to the hospital where he got checked out and he looked up at Jess.
“I.....I can’t.....I don’t want the station to know.” He whispered.
"Leon, we have to tell the boss, you've been assaulted whilst at work, there’s so much they have to do." Jess told him and picked up his hand, “I’ll be there right by your side Hun, I promise.”
Leon nodded and once they were told he could go, they went to Heaton and Leon suddenly began to shake and burst into tears when they stepped into the office.
“I....Jess I....can’t....Jess...” Leon’s words were getting messed up to how scared he was.
“Leon, look at me, take a deep breathe, you can do this.” Jess comforted him and Leon nodded looking at their worried super.
“I....I got assaulted while ch...chasing after the robber last night.” He explained and Heaton nodded grabbing paperwork out.
“Fill these out and mail them to me, You and Jess are getting a 8 week holiday.” Heaton told them and both officers nodded.
Once back at home, Jess helped Leon filled the papers out and post them to the station. She then took him to the bedroom and held him close as she began to sing to him rocking him back and forth letting Leon cry his heart out, she knew it would be a long recovering progress but she believed he could get through this with help. Soon he had fallen asleep but she sang the song a second time.
