One love lost, one love gained
"Mickey," She ran up to him and hugged him. Mickey had been missing for months on end and now he had been found and was back in the station, she was so relieved to see him back.
"H - hi, who are you?" Mickey asked confused and flinched from her.
"I'm - you don't remember?" Jess asked stepping back, her heart sinking as he flinched away from her.
"No." he shook his head. Jess ran off to the toilets holding in her tears till she was alone. Tears came down her face as she sat in the corner of the toilets when her best friend Beth walked in and she sighed,
"Oh Jess, I heard what happened." She said as she kneeled down to her. Jess cried as Beth give her a hug and helped her up and Jess cleaned up and went into the boss's office announcing she was quitting.
"Sir, I just wanted - Jess, what are you doing here?" A PC with brownish hair and brown eyes stepped into the office.
"Quitting I have no reason to stay anymore, my own boyfriend doesn't remember me, so what use am I going to be?" Jess sighed looking up to the PC known as Leon.
"Excuse us a minute sir." Leon pulled Jess out of the boss's office and down the hall to the canteen and sat down Jess holding her hand. "You have every reason to be here."
"Like?" Jess asked looking up to her second best friend and Leon pulled her into a kiss. Jess liked the feeling of his lips on her and she leaned into his arms kissing him back and she laid her head on his chest crying into his arms.
"I always had a crush on you and I bet you that your brother Stuart would hate it if you quit." Leon said referring to Jess's older brother DS Stuart Turner.
"Nah, his too busy cooing over Sam. Leon kiss me again." Jess asked and Leon smiled kissing her before pulling away, "Would you like to join me on my case?"
"Love to" She said and they went and told the boss about her partnering up with Leon.
They went to the suspect's door and when the suspect they found themselves looking at Delaney.
"You pig, you twat, you disgusting little pig. He can't remember me, it's all your fault, you disgusting PIG!" Jess started to shout and go off the handle throwing punches everywhere, anger releasing its handle on her and Leon looked shocked as she tackled Delaney to the ground punching at him with all her strength.
Leon grabbed her pulling her off Delaney and Jess was close to tears as she struggled to get out of his arms.
"Jess no!" Leon told her.
"He was the one, he did this to me!" She screamed back.
"I know, I know, but he's a suspect in a case, you can't do this and the copper inside of you knows this as well." He replied calmly.
"Get me out of here." Jess cried, tears flowing down her face and Delaney smirked to himself. Leon called Nate and Smithy to come and get Delaney while he took Jess back to the station. They walked into the station, Leon holding Jess near so she didn't collapsed.
He took her up to the roof where he held her as she cried hard and she said "Delaney is a bastard, he raped Mickey, its.....its my fault for not protecting Mickey."
"No it's not your fault, come on it's not your fault, no-one could protect anyone." Leon comforted her and she looked up at him with questioning look in her eyes.
"You lost someone before?" She asked gently as he held her near when they were called onto a suspect of RTA related incidents past the years. They both got cleaned up and went to the suspect's door and when he opened, Leon received a shock, it was the guy who killed his love Natalie.
Jess saw his fist tightened as he looked at the guy and she pulled Leon away to where the suspect couldn't hear them.
"Who is that guy Leon?" She asked gently seeing that Leon was close to tears.
"He was the......the guy who......who killed Natalie." Leon choke on his words and she hugged him, and took him to the station so they could take the night off before taking him to her apartment.
“Sit down Leon.” She offered softly and he give him a smile as he pulled her to his arms,
“Can we dance instead to one of your favourite CDs?” He asked nodding towards her collection.
“Sure.” She said softly and turned on a CD and the two started to dance with each other when they kissed and Leon held her near as she danced to the music with him,
“One love lost, one love gained.” He whispered and Jess smiled and repeated the same words as they danced to the music staring into eachother’s eyes happy to have fallen in love with each other when they heard Christmas bells and looked surprised when they realised it was after midnight and it was Christmas day.
“Merry Christmas love.” Both said as they kissed lying down on her bed falling asleep holding each other as the music played.
