Strike of the Biannual!

Mar 18, 2006 11:10

So, yes, as predictable as clockwork, I am once again suffering through my biannual sinus/allergy attacks. I went back in my LJ history to see if the date this year coincided with the dates from previous years, and it sort of did. 2K3 had it happen at the end of March, 2K4 had it happen in April, but it's all within the same general span of time. I suspect the sudden burst of warm weather we had this past weekend had a lot to do with it. Yesterday it was so bad that I barely managed to get through work and drive home before more or less going straight to bed (with about 300mg of Sudafed, 10mg of Loratadine, and 200mg of Ibuprofen to sedate me). I woke up around 5 this morning feeling a lot better, and then went back to sleep. Woke up a little while ago feeling similarly better. I can still feel the mucous in my throat (mmm, lovely image), but that's typical. As long as my nose isn't perpetually running/stuffed (at the same freakin' time), I don't really mind the other effects too much. Of course, the downside is that I couldn't go to Bacher's St. Patrick's Day party last night, which I had been looking forward to since he announced it. Bleh. Ah well, there'll be other occasions to drink.

Aside from that, though, life has been rather fantastic. It feels a lot like the 'bouncy' part of "Scenes from an Italian Restaurant":

Things are okay with me these days
Got a good job, got a good office
Got a new wife, got a new life
And the family's fine

So, really, other than sinuses and the usual in global politics, I don't have much to rant and complain about. Everything is going really well, and shows no signs of imminently coming crashing down around me. In fact, things only show signs of improving from here, which is rather amazing. There's a great line from Playing by Heart that sort of applies to how I'm feeling these days:

"The wonderful thing about falling in love is that you learn everything about that person, and so quickly. And if it's true love, then you start to see yourself through their eyes, and it brings out the best in you. And it's almost as if you're falling in love with yourself."

That last part might not make much sense, but the idea is that you appreciate the good things in yourself that the other person brings out. That sort of thing. I don't know that I really ever understood that quote before.

I'll leave you to think on that.
