Scary Traffic
Hokay, so...
After dropping Cody off at school this morning, I'm heading north along 16, going to get on 95N. I'm just through the light at Concord St at this point, and I'm stuck behind this van who's stuck behind this slow-ass woman (SAW) in front of him. We're all three of us in the left "lane," because the right "lane" is occupied by parked cars at this area (which is par for the course). So, once the right lane opens, I switch to it and begin accelerating to get passed SAW. Except, of course, SAW decides "Hay i will merge right without a blinkar!"
I beep the horn at her, which wakes her idiot self up to the fact that "gee, there are other people on the road!" I'm now at the intersection of 16 & Wales St, right near the 95S on-ramp. I accelerate past SAW, but from the other side of 16 (southbound), this crazy old woman (COW) who apparently wants to go down Wales/Walnut St, decides now is a good time to execute this left turn. This means she turns left and crosses the lane I'm in. The lane with cars coming towards her. The lane. With cars. Coming towards her.
So I have to swerve way right so she doesn't smash into me...which places me right in the midst of a pair of SUVs coming off of 95S onto 16N! I now have to zig-zag so I don't smash into them. Bear in mind, all of this at like 40mph across about 300-400 ft or so of road (i.e. all of these events happen in the span of about 6 seconds).
Somebody beeped at me along the way there, and all I'm thinking is, "Um, what the fuck? YOU ARE ALL BREAKING TRAFFIC LAWS AND YOU'RE BEEPING AT ME?!"
I hate driving in Wellesley.
