Summary: Sam's emotions as he sees Dean dead.

He didn't fall to his knees cursing the world. He didn't throw things and smash the room around him. He didn't even speak. Sam just knelt down next to Dean staring down into Dean's eyes. Sam noticed the pendant he'd given Dean years ago twisted up with its own cord and he brought a shaking hand up to fix it. As Sam touched the warm metal he choked silently for air before one broken sob ripped its way from his mouth.
He'd buried himself in the hope that they'd find a way out of this deal, that he would never have to face this moment where he completely and irrevocably alone in the world but here he was.
Sam covered his mouth to deaden the quiet broken whimpers as he cried. There was a time when Sam thought his brother was unbreakable, too larger than life to be taken out. Sam's thoughts moved slugglishly between then and now. He couldn't reconcile those memories with Dean's unmoving chest and unseeing eyes.
"Oh.....Gu, Dean," Sam sputtered wrapping his arms around himself and elaning forward as if that would stop the rising pain tearing him to shreds. He knew now. He knew what Dean must have been feeling when he lost Sam for that short time. He realized what could drive someone to such desperate lengths. How was he supposed to keep form going under when this feeling was threatening to swallow him whole?
"I'm sorry." Sam whispered. He laid a chaste kiss on Dean's forehead. Sam took a deep shaking breath and fell into his grief.
