So far being a tester has been interesting. Granted you could say that I play Rock Band all day, but there is a lot of other stuff there for one to check out if they are so inclined. I'm trying to get more responsibility, do more stuff at the job to prove that I am reliable and above all motivated to do my job well. Hopefully the higher ups are taking note.
For sure the overtime has been a harsh mistress. On one hand I have no life. On the other the extra money I've been able to socket away was used to help get my brother out of a bit of a pickle. So far I've been subsisting on a Sunday a week off. However I've also been able to assess the role of QA in the development cycle. It's not the most glamorous job, but there is room for growth if you're willing to do what it takes. The only problem is that there are so many doofuses who think it's great to play video games as work that you're kind of taken for a gurgling idiot.
The other thing I miss is reading. Really, I haven't had the time or energy to read anything "smart" in the last couple of months. This has become relatively distressing. Since we're not allowed to use the internet I'm cut off from readily available input. Hopefully when things get settled with my bro I can start going to Borders to get some long eared books for my daily BART rides.
