Why it makes sense to vote for prop 19, in 1000 characters or less:
* Helps the environment (illegal crops are often grown in national forests after clear cutting).
* Reduces influence of organized crime (Mexican cartels).
* Relieves law enforcement burden to focus on significant crimes.
* Reduces the risk of tainted marijuana.
* Reduces underground economy, moving these transactions into the tax system.
* Relieves court burden - a Southern California court recently released accused felons due to lack of court time.
Not everyone who supports this proposition is a "pothead" - I have never knowingly ingested marijuana in any form. Alcohol prohibition caused many of the same problems that marijuana prohibition is causing. It's time to learn from our mistakes.
