Sally didn’t like Alicia and wanted Darrell’s entire friendship. Alicia didn’t see why she should give up Darrell’s companionship completely just because Sally had come back. Why not a threesome till Betty returned?
Le sigh ... Enid Blyton's Malory Towers is just awesome and choke full of subtext poor innocent me never got even while re-reading the books in my teens. But somehow it must have rubbed of on me ... One day I will write a long post about my hilarious boarding school obsession and take a pseudo-psychoanalytical look on my love for Darrell, Sally and Alicia but for now I just want to save this wonderful, wonderful story where "an impromptu tutoring session under an oak tree leaves Darrell a little wiser ... and a little flustered" . It's Blytonian! It's in character! It's Darrell/Alicia! I'm officially in love with it!
