At least 6 more inches over night. We made the attempt to get to my wife's (
butterflywillow ) family christmas party, but her uncle lives in south everett/ north lynnwood. We didn't even make it to the free way be fore the blowing "snow" and rapidly iceing roads got the better of my nerves and we turned back.
Turning back was an adventure in and of it's self. Visibility was down, so just pulling a 180 and turning left onto 145th street was not an option. The residential district we had turned into had seen little if any traffic in days, so the snow was nicely compacted and a complete mess. To top it off. ONLY ONE ROAD WENT ALL THE WAY THROUGH! We had to navigate a maze of dead ends, and circle streets, my nerves getting steadily worse every time we had to stop, then try and get moving again.
WE made it to a major road after ten to fifteen minutes of false starts, and stopped off at QFC for pizza. I decided to pick up some port and dark chocolate Ice Cream in an attempt to cheer up the wife. She was pretty depressed about missing the party. It's one of our favorite events of the year.
Sooo.. we got home safetly, had pizza port and ice cream. And settled in for the night. Not what I woudl call a brillant holiday weekend so far.
Note to all our guests for tonight:
If Road Conditions do not improve. STAY HOME!!!!!!!
I would rather reschedule to new years, then have you all out and about in this complete disaster of a weather mess.
