Character info
Series/Fandom: Kingdom Hearts
Character's Name: Leon (Squall Leonhart)
Character's Sex: Male
Character's Age: 26
Canon point: Since the end of Kingdom Hearts II, Leon will have been focusing greatly on the Restoration Committee and finding ways of his own to help the new refugees. After all, he's been there. He knows what it's like to lose your home.

Abilities: Like his Final Fantasy VIII counterpart, Leon is well-known for wielding a weapon known as a Gunblade. That is, a sword with the capabilities of a gun built into it. In Leon's case, his gunblade is fashioned after a revolver and when he pulls the trigger, it sends out an explosion. Unlike his counterpart, however, he is capable of somehow enchanting the gunblade so that it enlarges to twice its original size in moments of desperation-- much like a Limit Break. This gives him a longer reach and it also makes his strikes more powerful.

He's also capable of using a small degree of magic, though he only displays the ability to cast Fire-type magic and, in the first Kingdom Hearts, a modest healing spell.
Strengths: As a fighter, Leon is extremely physical. What he lacks in speed, he makes up for in strength and power. He exercises brute force in combat more than anything, often going for the simple charging and slashing strategy, and favors counterattacks. He's also shown to be decent at acrobatics (though nowhere near the prowess of Yuffie), jumping great lengths that might normally be impossible. It's also implied that he trains constantly to keep himself in good shape and it'd be fair to say he has a great deal of endurance.
Weaknesses: Compared to his FFVIII counterpart and other characters like Sora, Leon is nowhere near to being the powerhouse they are. Strong though he is, it's unlikely he'd be able to hold his ground against them or other powerful characters for too long. He has very limited knowledge of magic and relies on physical combat more than anything; he'd be susceptible to long-distance fighters. His strategy in combat is also extremely simple and predictable, making it easier for characters to guess what he's going to do. You can also hear him coming from about a mile away when he charges you. RRRAAAGH.

Background: "We may never meet again, but we'll never forget each other."

Appearance: [Full Body] [Face]

Personality: At first, Leon may not seem like a very approachable guy. He stands in the background, silent and withdrawn, seemingly distanced from the rest of the world. Oftentimes a brooding man, Leon tends to remain in the company of his own thoughts rather than the company of others. He doesn't talk much, preferring to say what needs to be said rather than sugarcoating things with flowery language. He even has his own private (or so he thinks) places to sneak away and train, just to give himself space and think. It's easy to see why some might think of him as uncaring, detached, and blunt.

Brooding and straightforward though he is, uncaring is not a good word to describe the guy. Once you've gained his trust, Leon is one of the most loyal and caring guys you'll probably ever meet. He's guarded and doesn't extend trust easily, but it's well worth it to try and breach the barriers he puts up. He'll lay his life on the line for those he cares about, evident by the many times he jumps into combat to protect Radiant Garden and fights by Sora's side. He even goes so far as to establish the Restoration Committee alongside Cid, Aerith, and Yuffie in order to renew their home to its former glory. Devoted to his causes, Leon pours a great deal of time and effort into fighting off Heartless and keeping their home safe-- and also into training to ensure he's in tip-top shape to do so. Though he's perhaps not the best at telling someone he cares about them (some of his remarks, after all, end up being dubbed "Leon compliments" due to his being a little awkward in that department), actions speak louder than words for this guy.

He's seen a lot in his fairly young life, having been stripped of his home at a young and impressionable age and thrown into a war between Darkness and Light. Though there was little he could actually do to fend off the Heartless, Leon still blamed himself for being unable to protect their home. In fact, that was his reason for forsaking the name "Squall Leonhart" and instead becoming "Leon". He wants to separate himself from the boy who couldn't protect his home and instead be the man who can. It's clear from just that piece of information that Leon is incredibly hard on himself, demanding strength and willpower from himself to protect his home and those he cares about. Failure isn't an option and he'll no doubt take it hard if something goes down in a bad enough way.

Of the makeshift sort of family that makes up the Restoration Committee, Leon takes on the role of the leader and the big brother. The others count on and look up to him and it's a role he gladly steps into. Though once he would have rejected the idea of being a leader, now it's a source of strength for him and a responsibility he embraces: for his home and for his family. He's good at it, too. What he lacks in emotion and empathy, he makes up for by being a pillar of strength and a shoulder for the others to lean on. He makes an excellent leader, often knowing how to take charge of a situation and react decisively. Of course, being the big brother figure of the group also lends itself to making others believe he's perfect trollbait. Though his reactions tend not to go far outside of sighing, shaking his head, or facepalming, teasing and jokes seem to gravitate towards him. He'll get exasperated, but he has a surprisingly long fuse and astounding patience for that sort of thing.

Since his debut in the original Kingdom Hearts, Leon has since become comparatively more cheerful. He smiles and jokes (albeit dryly) more often, having grown into a happier and more light-hearted person since having his home restored. That isn't to say he isn't still a straight-faced and stoic man, but he's made significant progress.
Strengths: Determination and persistence are two of Leon's biggest strengths. Once he starts in on something, he doesn't stop until he sees it through. However, he's matured, arguably more than his Final Fantasy counterpart, and isn't quite so bull-headed about things. He does know when to relent-- like when Aerith gave him a dirty look over implying she couldn't fight. His caring and loyal nature is also a very big strength of his and lends itself to readily helping others when they need it. His leadership skills are also heavily emphasized on throughout the Kingdom Hearts series.
Weaknesses: Needless to say, expressing his feelings and thoughts isn't one of Leon's strong suits. When he tries, he goes about it awkwardly and it usually comes off as a back-handed compliment or something entirely different. He's also a sort who believes, personally, that showing emotion is a weakness and will close himself off from others when something is bothering him. His self-critical nature is also a big enemy of his, as he tends to put the blame on himself when something goes wrong. One could also consider Radiant Garden and his family a weakness of his, as he'll do anything for them. If one of them were to get hurt or worse, it would likely tear him up inside, regardless of how hard he tried not to show it. Slipping on a puddle of melted icecream could be very fatal, you know.

Samples
Action/Journal Sample:
[Hey look, it's Leon! ...looking as serious as ever. He just gets straight down to business.]

Hey. You guys who signed up to work with the Restoration Committee? I could use some help.

[He jerks a thumb over his shoulder to point behind him before turning around and aiming the feed to show a handful of moogles fussing over a destroyed shop stand in the town square. When the feed turns back around, there's a faintly amused smirk on Leon's face. If you squint.]

We have a mess to clean up and rebuild.

[That's all he says before the feed clicks back off.]

RP Sample: Given the amount of work Leon had engrossed himself in these past few months, he supposed he shouldn't have been surprised to find one of those creatures -- What was it the moogles had called them? Pokemon? -- curled up on his bed when he got home. He was barely in there himself anymore, he could only imagine who took it upon themselves to give the mostly untouched room to a less fortunate creature. Three people immediately came to mind: Sora, Aerith, and Yuffie... but considering Sora had been equally - if not more - busy and Aerith was out helping others on different worlds, that really only left one hyperactive ninja.

It took some time to find her; she wasn't called a ninja for nothing, after all. With the fluffy beast in tow, Leon stepped into her makeshift hideout with a raised brow and cleared his throat. When Yuffie turned around, it was with a start and a big grin. "He~y, Leon! What's that you got there?" she said, pointing at the eevee under his arm.

"I was about to ask you the same thing."

"Me? How would I know?"

With a sigh, Leon put his free hand on his hip and just gave the girl a look. He'd expected this; she always pulled the innocent act. "There aren't many people with enough persistence to try and make me adopt a pet," he pointed out.

"Well, you could use some company with all that brooding you do!"

"Yuffie--..."

She held her hands up in defense, waving them a bit. "But it wasn't me, I swear! Maybe it just likes you. Sheesh, not everything is my fault, y'know!"

The remark brought about a smirk and a small laugh. She had a point. "Right. Sorry. ...Guess that means I have a problem, then. Had to have weaseled its way inside somehow," he mused, looking down at the creature who looked right back with its huge, shining black eyes.

Eeevee!

...So it was kind of cute, he'd give it that. But it was probably missing its herd or... whatever it had. He had to be the responsible adult, here.

"Why don't you just keep it?"

"Don't have the time."

"You could take it on patrols with you!"

"And risk it getting hurt? No."

Their exchange went on for a while with Yuffie even following Leon out as he went to set it free somewhere. Honestly, she sounded like she wanted it more than he did and he even offered to let her keep it. It just earned a slightly exasperated look when she declined with a poorly hidden mischievous smile. Apparently she knew something he didn't. He let it go, but as he went back inside his place to rest, that same eevee zoomed inside between his legs and into his room, jumped back onto his bed, and curled up.

Someone had to have trained this thing to torment him.
Have you read the rules & F.A.Q.s? Hang on, I gotta finish my paopu smoothie.
