Let's get one thing straight: I'm forgetting these curses ever happened, got it? You all should do the same!
[What Rita has failed to notice--but what's pretty obvious to anyone who looks thanks to the green tank top she's wearing--are two or three small fading bruises on the sides of her neck. The genius mage still has some hickeys as a souvenir

That might be for the best.

Y-yeah. Never bring it up again.

I was thinking about the mana to energy conversion theory and your mana-based blastia. It still feels like we're missing something.
Reply
O-oh, yeah. What did you have in mind?

I was messing with fontech designs. They're really different from blastia even if in theory they should be similar. Maybe we're focusing too much on current technology and not enough on modifying for the new source.
I say that, but I'm still stuck on ideas for how.

Hmm...So we should look into adapting them to make them more compatible. We could look into design and materials...
I haven't seen much of your fontech yet, though. I'd be interested in checking out your designs.

Sure, I can bring them over after work.
Blastia's an ancient technology, right? A lot of the fontech we have comes from the Dawn Age. We don't really have records from then and a lot of the technology is considered lost or being researched. But in theory both technologies should have evolved from adapting to the power source.
In that case we just need to study mana more directly. With enough experimentation we should figure out a design that converts it to energy with the same efficiency as Aer.

Mana conversion is a brand-new field, anyway. Up until recently, there were only a few studies done on its basic properties and relationship to aer. I've been doing my own thorough analyses and modifications here, but it's pretty tough when things are always going crazy.

[Good point. He strokes his chin.]
If I could build a remote monitoring device we could set it to recording mana frequencies--That way we'd still be getting data even when we're busy.

[Just a strange coincidence, of course. Rita's intrigued by his suggestion and taps her chin with a hand.]
That's right--you said your fonons emit certain frequencies. If we can measure and utilize that for mana, it might give us something to work with.

[But, more important things! Like teching the techie tech thing!]
The fonon frequencies are well recorded. Even if mana isn't sound-based in nature there should be some way of measuring it.
If you converted Aer to mana, do you know a way of measuring Aer? That might help.

Of course I have instruments and techniques to measure both. I wouldn't have gotten anywhere without them. But I doubt anyone's ever considered any sound-based properties...
So we'll probably have to build or modify something.
Reply
If I can look at how your measuring instruments work I can modify a fonmachine probably. If not we can build from scratch, it shouldn't be that difficult. We can even check for fonic frequencies, just in case.
I'll think on it during work.
