[video] project: ice cream cake

I knew something like this would be simple to figure out. There!

[Rita indicates...what might be an attempt at making a torte. Or a pudding cake. The only sure thing is that it's messy and looks about ready to collapse, two cake layers haphazardly stacked with too-soft and melting ice cream sandwiched between. She's still pretty smug about it,

Oh, um, good job, Rita! What is it...?

It's an ice cream cake, of course. You wanna try some?

Yes, of course!

[blastiafreak]

Hang on. I'll cut you a piece, okay?

[She's confident Estelle will like it! Even though it's not quite cutting properly. The cake's just crumbling and oozing the partially-melted ice cream all over the place. But hey, Rita's sure it's...supposed to be like that!

Estelle gets a bowl filled with ice cream cake soup handed to her. At least the flavour is passable.]

[Estelle takes it, eyeing it curiously. SHE WILL BRAVE THIS TRIAL JUST FOR YOU, RITA. And she takes a bite!

...It is not nearly as bad as she expected.]

Oh, Rita, this is very good!

[She knew she could count on you, Estelle! And is totally not proud except maybe a little.]

Do you think so? I mean, I knew it would be. I came up with the recipe myself.

[Okay, Estelle is legitimately impressed.]

Really? That's amazing! How did you make it?

[blastiafreak]

[Rita preens a little at the compliment. Hell yes.]

Well, I modified a cake recipe into something a little more dry and dense so it wouldn't get soggy.

Then I bought some ice cream and just stacked it all together.

[...She's still impressed, right...]

Oh! Um, that was a good idea!

[YES SHE IS. She takes another bite. It tastes just like normal ice cream cake, at least]

Yeah, it was. But I had to do it that way, anyway. I tried using a cake I bought the first time, but the ice cream just soaked right through and made a huge mess!

[Aww. Rita is just very pleased that Estelle approves.]

Why were you so determined to make it?

[blastiafreak]

Oh, that...[A hint of red comes to her face.]

Tyr said he was going to teach me how to make one, but I don't need any teaching. You've seen how simple it is, right?

[selenoscape]

Yes! [She grins.] It doesn't surprise me that you figured it out by yourself! But why didn't you want Tyr to help you?

[blastiafreak]

Because I didn't need his help! [She automatically tsuns a little, but this is Estelle, so she calms down.]

And we sort of made it into a challenge. I figured it out first, so I won.

Yay! [She grins.] Good job, Rita! Was it a bet?

[Rita looks stunned for a second.] ...Oh, I should've bet something! I'll just have to make him cough something up.
