[Background info] Rita Mordio is actually introduced into the game rather early on. At least her last name. The Aque Blastia of the Lower Quarter of Zaphias is stolen and Yuri assumes it was the mage who last looked at it: Mordio. Thus, in his attempt to recover the Blastia, he finally meets Rita in Aspio, only to learn that she wasn’t the one to steal it and instead is a completely different person. In fact, she is considered to be one of the smartest and well known Blastia researchers in Aspio, though she does not get as much respect since she is pretty young and is considered a kid to the other researchers.
So to clear her name, she tries to help them by taking them to the Shaikos Ruins, where she learns some trouble had been occurring within. There, they do learn of Blastia thieves, but not the one who stole the Aque Blastia. From then on, Rita joins the party both because she’s irritated by the fact that people are stealing the precious blastia as well as the fact that there was someone out there using her name.
However, as the group continues to progress through their journey, they learn more and more about the happenings around the world, and the existence of Aer Krene: locations in which large concentrations of Aer are gathered and cause behavioural changes within the monsters that reside near them. From then on, she is assigned by the Empire to examine all of the Aer Krene around the world and to try and fix them. As this coincides with what the party wants to do, she stays with them.
They also encounter a mysterious dragon rider who destroys the Blastia, especially those that are used as barriers for the cities to protect them from monsters. Of course, this sets Rita off like no tomorrow, so she adds “Finding and beating the crap out of that dragon rider” to her list of things to do while travelling around the world. However, she learns that the person, who is revealed to be Judith, is actually trying to help save the world by destroying the Blastia. More specifically, the Hermes Blastia, which actually cause the Aer around it to go haywire and unbalance the world. So “Try and neutralize the Hermes Blastia” is tacked onto her ever growing list. Which she of course does.
After learning about Estelle being the Child of the Full Moon, the one who holds the power to destroy the world by distorting the Aer and unbalancing the world even further, Rita becomes more determined to try and find a way solve all of these problems without having to sacrifice her now considered dear friend. By using the power of the sword Dein Nomos, which has the ability to neutralize and rebalance Aer, she is able to create a method that helps Estelle’s powers stay in check, if temporarily.
Once the Adephagos - a big, giant, nasty blob thing of doom - appears, she has to then figure out a way to save the world. Which she does, of course. Once she discovers the method of spirit conversion, she quickly takes the group to the Aer Krene in the ice floe and with Estelle’s help is able to convert the cyano ciel crystal - a crystal that is formed when an Entelexia, a being that helps maintain the world - into a spirit, Undine. This, the evolution of the world has begun. The Entelexia would have to turn into spirits, and the Aer would have to turn into mana. It would mean a complete change of the world.
Using the spirits power as well as the energy from the Blastia, Rita is able to create a device that would be able to harness such power to be released to the Adephagos and destroy it. Karol names it Brave Vesperia no. 1, much to her dismay, but she lets it go as she has other worries. To be able to use all of the Blastia that was located around the world, she needed a network that would be able to gather them all and direct it to the Tower of Tarqaron, which is where their last destination to confront Duke, someone who also wants to save the world but intends on using human life force instead, would be.
Her plans succeeds, and though she can no longer study Blastia, she’s still hard at work researching new formulas and methods to help keep the world’s energy in check. It would not be impossible to consider her studying the Mana that now controls the world’s energy. She is also finally recognized by the Aspio researches, much to her embarrassed satisfaction.
[Personality]
Rita has a fiery temper, along with a no-nonsense attitude. Though she can get a bit carried away whenever she explains anything scientific, especially Blastia. And though she is pretty mature for her age, she’s still a child and will sometimes show that child-like attitude every now and then. She doesn’t like it, though, so when she realizes it, she tells whoever witnessed it to keep quiet about. This happens moreso with Judith, as though Rita originally hated Judith, she grew to become close to the older girl and looks at her like a sister.
She is also very caring for her friends, especially Estelle. Estelle was probably the first friend she had ever made, so whenever Estelle does something reckless she is quick to reprimand her. Though Rita is the younger, she looks out for Estelle as if she were her younger sister.
Rita can get flustered, especially whenever someone shows her some sign of affection or gratitude. But if you push the wrong buttons or start acting stupid, be prepared for smack to the head either by hand or book or even worse, a magic attack. Despite being a scientist, Rita has a knack to act first/think later whenever she’s mad or irritated at something. Which happens more often than people would probably like. She’s very direct and doesn’t like having to take the long way around things.
[Abilities]
Rita is a magic user, which is performed by her writing formulas in the air and creating a sphere of writing around her. She can also use her book to smack people around with, and her weapon is a scarf or whip, which she can also use for physical attacks. She has a Hi-Ougi attack, which does a lot of damage, but since she doesn’t have her bodhi blastia (a blastia that helps bring out someone’s abilities), all of her attacks are somewhat weaker than before. Still, getting hit by a fireball or slabs of earth would hurt a lot.
She is also very smart and quick to pick up on a lot of things, especially anything scientific. She can create formulas and devices in a relatively short amount of time, and solve puzzles very easily. And since she knows she’s smart and can handle pretty much anything on her own, she is not afraid to let anyone know about it. She has a lot of pride and confidence in herself.
Oh, whenever she is looking at a blastia’s formula, she is able to bring up a screen that’s similar to a computers and type in stuff. I don’t think she’ll be doing that much here since there…isn’t any blastia around.
[Other important facts]
She does not know her father and barely remembers her mother. …Other than not much else.
