The selection committee et al in India has appointed their own choice of a captain for the Indian Men’s National team
till the next Cric-World-Cup (in 2007),
but,
following today’s defeat,
the entire audience at Wankhede Stadium, Bombay, screamed 'We Want Sourav !' in fury !
In the city that is the home of Sourav Ganguly
(the most successful captain ever of the Indian cricket team, now deposed,
and the team he was trying to build up for the 2007-World Cup destroyed in its entirety),
people on the street were quietly jubiliant,
anticipating this win by England !
Possibly the only person from Calcutta who has wept today at this defeat
is Sourav Ganguly himself !
:D
