I just realized I never did my last blog for my NYC trip! I suck and fail!
Well, since it mostly entailed getting lunch, listening to Johnny complain and seeing Nikki and Shien I'll keep it short and fill it with pictures XD
So if you'll remember, we ended up getting back to the hotel super late. Like crazy intense late because the cabs are suck and fail on holidays. So we slept in and took our time getting ready for the day. We went next door to get a mocha at McDonald's (don't judge me, I had no choice really) and lunch at a mediocre "Chinese" restaurant. After eating some food we called a cab. A non-ripoff cab company. And we waited and waited and waited.
So it finally gets there and we head to the Bowery to catch our train. One of the things that blows me away every time is the vast hugeness of the cemeteries. Whenever we pass them I always forget to get out my camera, so this is my best picture.
Sunday was the marathon as well so nearly every train was detouring or closed. It sucked and we had to do a lot of new kinds of navigating we hadn't had to do before. This is what we saw:
Rad furniture
A cute coffee caravan
Cute graffiti
Hidden Church
OMG CUTE PUPPY! He was spazzy and hopping!
And since we'd pretty much wasted our day sleeping in and taking detoured trains we ended up meeting with Nikki to pick up some clothes I'd loaned out about an hour before the Met closed. Sad times. On our way to the Met, though, we saw man people who'd just finished the marathon and were walking with family. It reminded me of us doing that with our dad when he would finish a marathon :)
Across from the met was this apartment that had this cool piece of art in their front yard area:
It looked like the biggest, coolest dollhouse your mom never let you play with. LOL
We sat on the steps and waited for Nikki.
While doing so we rocked a few food vendors, ran into the gift shop and I got inspo for a future tattoo, one I may get for Xmas from my dad. Then, strangely enough, we saw
Chris Noth walk by on his cell phone. I figured my mom would get a kick out of that so I send her a few texts. She said, "Did you get an autograph?!" No mom, he's on his phone. "OMG, did you get a picture!?" No, I didn't want to bother him. "Doesn't he know we need autographs!?!?!" It was very cute.
We noticed a lot of really cool roof-top gardens:
And were cute. Behold:
So Nikki showed up. Sadly we couldn't hang out with her for too long since she had to get back to NJ. But we chatted a little, got hugs and snapped a few pics. next time we'll be able to hang out more for sure :)
It started to get dark and we'd planned on getting together with Shien so we got on our way to meet up with her at this Japanese book store in Times Square. We parted ways with Nikki about halfway there.
WTF Crooked door?!
We finally get to the bookstore around 5:30 and Shien met up with us a little later. This place was QAWDIKHJEHGAWESOME! They had so many great fashion magazines, a men's fashion magazine section (OMG) and a Gothic and Lolita section of books and magazine.
It was pretty much just awesome all around. I am bringing so much money the next time I go to NYC.
After we had our fill, Shien took us to this GREAT restaurant called Bankok House. It was DELICIOUS! They had thai tea creme brulee! I has sizzling duck which was likely the most delicious duck I've ever had. And yummy plum wine. Awesome. Ryan has a new found love of Thai tea so he got one and they made the straw wrapper so cute!
Shien in her new hair cut eating the creme brulee.
Yummy plum wine and pretty orchids.

So is Shien:
So really, what ended up happening despite our best efforts, was we talked about business. For about 5 hours. Seriously, we ordered food again because we were there so long. I think we closed down the place honestly. We talked about the Asylum, about DOV, about my stuff, her stuff, fun stuff, gossip stuff, and travel stuff. It sucks, we like her so much and never get to see her. I'm hoping we can go back in the spring as planned because that dinner was just so much fun. She's a great person and a good friend. Anyone who gets a chance to meet this girl, you'll love her instantly :)
And that's it of Day 5. I may get around to our last day eventually. It's kinda funny and kinda tragic but, we'll see if I have the motivation XD
