Just under my pet peeve for those who would publish a map without a scale (eye twitches), would be an acronym that requires more syllables to pronounce than the phrase it stands in for.
Insipid crime drama: "she died of a GSW" (gee ess dou-ble yu), gun shot wound. Two. More. Syllables. I'm pretty sure people in the field don't say that.
