Full moon, empty stomach

Went to see the Extra Action Marching Band tonight. Was much fun. Fronted by a viciously hot flag team. It's not Crash Worship, but nothing ever will be and I didn't expect it to be.

(It also wasn't quite the same as accidentally stumbling across them on Fat Tuesday playing in the street and following them into the bar. At the end of the set, they played back into the street and we danced through the streets at midnight up to the park. I definitely lost my heart when I turned my head and saw a people cartwheeling and dancing along on the construction scaffolding over the sidewalks.)

I have always observed the behavior of larger organisms (e.g. humans) in a crowd as analogous to particles in a (compressible) fluid. Watching the drummers, dancers, hornplayers, etc. frolicking in the center of the crowd and the relative crowd movement made me think a great way for a science teacher to explain expansion of a gas (as energy increases) would be videotaping the Action. (There are so many other fluid flow phenomena that you can observe analogously in crowds... throttling, dead-zones, etc.) (I should wear a button: Ask me about my pet theories!)

I had an exhilarating time with some very friendly and carefree people. I was so stirred up, it didn't occur to me to drink and I forgot the fact that I hadn't really eaten. I also ran into three individuals that I had met in different encounters in the city... am I going native?

They'll be playing 12 Galaxies (SF) on March 30th and The Knitting Factory (NYC) on June 22nd. No excuses. So many reasons to go.
