It's 7:23 pm. In 14 hours, my fiancee moves in with me.
"WHAAAAAAAAA?!," you all might be asking now. "I didn't even know you had a girlfriend!"
Yes, well, after everything that I went through, and put my friends through, with Sheila, I decided that I was going to do my best to keep my love life out of my livejournal. Of course, since I haven't really been updating anyway, this wasn't that hard. ;) Needless to say, it's been a very interesting and happy past few months for me, and I finally think it's time to share.
To begin with, her name is Mindy Pardue. She is 26, was born and raised in Georgia, and, until today, has been living most recently in Hope, AR. She is half-Japanese, half-Italian. She is beautiful and intelligent, and for the life of me, I can't figure out why she decided to settle with me. ;) We met on Final Fantasy XI. When we met, she was dating a friend of mine that I had known basically the entire time I had been playing the game. We first met online in June, right before I left the game for awhile. At that time, she and my friend were happy together, and while I was impressed with her and liked her very much, it didn't really occur to me that we might ever have a thing.
As I said, I took a break from the game, and came back sometime in late October. She was still there, and I found out that while I was gone, she had sent me several messages and had tried to get ahold of me, but had not heard back from me. Apparently she was just as impressed with me as I was with her. We started talking again, and it became apparent that her and my online friend were not really happy together anymore, which was obvious since she was always on game, and he was never anywhere to be seen. Apparently, all he did lately was play Star Wars Galaxy, and his idea of a "date" was for her to watch him play. He had apparently not been paying any attention to her at all, etc, and she was getting lonely.
As Gurdijef can attest, I told this friend that if he didn't start paying attention to her, I was going to steal her away. His response was "Feel free to try." While it started out as sort of a joke, Mindy and I did start playing together, talking alot, sharing stories, etc. When I realized that there really was a chance her and I could hit it off, I again told this friend that I was really going to steal her away. He laughed it off and assumed it could never happen. Once Mindy caught him looking through Yahoo! Personals, with a paid account, and he would not touch her because she didn't want to do a three-way, she finally gave up on him and they broke up. He did not take the break-up well, and the way he handled it basically made me decide that our friendship was over and absolved me of any lingering guilt I may have felt.
We started our relationship officially on November 10, and in a rash of impulsiveness that I will never regret, we decided to get married. I know, most of you are going to want to lecture me on how stupid that was. I have just this to say about that - keep it to yourselves; I don't want to hear it. Since Mindy was still in college, having gone back to study cosmetology, we knew that it was going to take awhile for us to really be together, so the fast engagement wasn't all that impulsive. We had hoped that she would be able to come visit in April, and them move in some time during the summer.
Long story short, a few other things happened in her life, and suddenly a visit in April became moving in in February. As the days went by though, and we became more and more desperate to be with each other, February became... well, tomorrow! As I write this, she should have arrived in Dallas with a friend of hers, and she gets on a plane at 8 tomorrow morning. She arrives in Wichita at 9:23 am. Now, I think that it is silly for her to fly in from Dallas, as it would be so much cheaper to drive than to fly into Wichita, but apparently she really loves to fly, and she insisted.
If things go as planned, we should be getting married in March 2007. We've even gone so far as to name our future children. It's been a very mushy last couple of months, to be sure. And yes, two final fantasy geeks getting together means that in the next few years, there will very hopefully be a little girl in the world named..... Aeris! No kidding. I suggested it thinking there was no way she would go for it, and surprisingly, she did!
Anyway, this is all I have to write for right now. Since I have still never bothered to create a photobucket account, if you want to see pictures of her, I threw something together at
my website. Hope to see everyone at the wedding next year!
