What could get me posting again?

Another con, that's what. Yep, this past weekend, I attended the New York Anime Festival and had a blast, might I add. Thanks to me working the week prior at Donna Karan's for Market Week (and putting in some serious hours) I had the funds (and a new bank account) that allowed for me to go. YAY!
$60 bucks poorer, and hours later than I had originally planned to get there, I donned on my trusty Zola cosplay and actually did a private photo shoot (pics at the end), then I wandered around until I was kicked out of the con with the rest of the stragglers, promptly at 10pm. But I met some cool people in the process!
First, people seemed to know who I was unlike at Otakon. I guess more people in NY actually played or somewhat watched Blue Dragon. I hugged everyone who guessed correctly who I was.
Second, although I went to the festival by myself (I don't have a NY anime posse here yet) I wasn't alone. Everyone was really nice and I got to meet a bunch of people and just chatted it up with them. Shout out to Jae and the other Volunteers and the Shuffle Alliance, cosplaying as Sasuke and Kakashi. I have lots of new myspace friends now.
Third, I took mad pictures and of course video feed. This always makes me happy.
Fourth, I met Tommy and Angie, hosts of a Queens based public access showed called NEO (Never Ending Otaku) and we kinda clicked. Both of them were really cool and they asked to interview me the next day.

Yes, this was all on Friday. Saturday was when I had the full day of fun. I must start off by saying that I liked having the Dealer's room and the Artist's Allay as one giant thing. Easy to wander from one thing to another. PLUS, as I was just wandering as I tend to do, I saw a giant Blue Dragon poster. You KNOW I had to take a picture with it (dressed as Zola and everything) and the guy at the table was actually demonstrative the new Blue Dragon card game, and of course, Zola had to learn how to play. Unfortunately, I lost. :p But I played later on while in line for the Masquerade with another random nice person who started a cool conversation with me. :)
Speaking of the Masquerade, great stuff. Shuffle Alliance got in and did their dances, and some of the skits were really funny (like the KH AntiSora asking Shadow Roxas on a date), and the Code Geasas skit was GREAT, and the World Cosplay Summit 3rd place winners (Team Japan) came and did a skit for us as well. The Host, who is an Otaku comic, was also a hoot. And the girl interviewed who was part of the first team to represent America at the World Cosplay Summit in Japan last year was WONDERFUL! I love her personality so much. Her expressions and the way she answered the host's questions and everything about her made me want to meet her and be her friend. I've started downloading the vids to my computer, and they should all be uploaded to youtube soon. I have nothing but time these days while I wait for a job. -_-'
Also on Saturday, I went to the Spoilers pt. 2 panel hosted by Disorganization XIII which was absolutely hilarious. My brain is so slow and I didn't even think about recording it so I could laugh about it later. I did volunteer for the Wario Ware game so they could explain why it sucked. Literally, it was the Wario Ware beatbox screen then it stopped at gave an instruction like "Jump." The person in the front of the line had to do the action (which were normally easy enough) and got a good prize. The girl in front of me got the command "Exist" and got a great wall scroll. My command - "Don't Exist" so I was the first one to fail my task. I got a booby prize which was a DBZ VHS. The joke's on them because I LOVE DBZ and I still have my VCR (along with some other DBZ VHS lol). Made my day, though.

Sunday, I got there later than I had hoped due to getting out of church late and missed the AMV contest winners, but I was in time for the Lolita fashion show held by Baby The Stars Shine Bright (Japanese company that will make their designs available in the US). It was nice, although I'm not a big Lolita fan. i do like the looks of Gothic Lolita, however. I went a Geek Nights Panel on comics for manga fans (or was that on Saturday), but as i was dressed normally (still hawking my YAOI T-shirts) I mostly walked around. I finally met up with Tommy and Angie, and we had a nice long conversation. Turns out, they didn't want to interview me on camera in cosplay, they want me to be another host. Of course I'm jumping on the chance. Me talk about anime and manga for 30 minutes a week. HELL YEAH! :) Plus, I'll get some production experience as well. I'm excited.

And so ended my NYAF experience. Oh yeah, I bought a Yaoi Simulation game. I haven't cracked it open yet, but tomorrow will be another day...

I'm getting my bulk of anime in now because my new church is doing a 40 day fast. I've never fasted for that long, and i knew automatically what God wants me to give up for those 40 days. Anime and Manga. I'll probably catalog my experience as i have never tried to go that long without it. I did fast from anime for a week, and THAT was hard in itself. This will be a good test of wills and faith for me, and even my dad called it when I told him about the fast. i wanted him to give me some idea of something else i could refrain from and the first thing he thought of was anime. BOO! I hate it when he's right on the money. :p Well, I'll have more time for livejournal, that's for sure.

Here's hoping that i make it past the withdrawal symptoms!!

And now PICS:
