I was in Germany when "The Blair Witch Project" came out. And not being a fan of horror, never bothered seeing it. Dave and I watched it last night at around 2. i saw that movie the night it came out and it scared the crap out of me. the whole element of not knowing (facelessness, not ever seeing the 'witch') was genius- what a mindfuck. i dont think any movie has ever terrified me the way that one did. i literally couldnt fall asleep for a month or so after seeing it.

spooky. i grew up around woods like that...

Yeah -I grew up way out in the country-- in woods like that in North Carolina. Where there would be an old family graveyard in the middle of the woods. When I was about 15 some friends and I went to this place that was supposedly used by the obiquitous "satanists" that always seemed to be performing rituals in the woods where ever rednecks might be. It gave me the creeps just looking for it though.

This Fryday im going to see the Exorcist at midnight in a theatre. I haven't seen this either and i'm really excited. Horror is all the sudden fascinating me. Do you have any favorites?

ive never seen the exorcist either. ive been meaning to for years but theres always something i want to see more.

i would have to say the blair witch is my favorite horror film, only because its the only modern one that isnt cheesy and totally unbelievable, *and* because its scared the shit out of me the way a good horror film should.

after that i'd have to say psycho or the birds. i dont think psycho is the least bit scary but its a great film. oh shit and arsenic and old lace...that ones kind of creepy...

Agreed, most horror seems unintentionally humourous before scary. but Arsenic and Old Lace is intentionally funny and residually scary.
