I had no idea LiveJournal could save drafts like it does. I just posted something Leila (or Layla) wrote a few weeks ago, but decided not to post. She's great.
Anyways, the time has finally come. We're just about done with Sweet & Sour.
We've been slaving over this damn record for over six months; from conception, to writing, to recording, to mixing and packaging, we're finally at the last leg of the process. The album (or EPs, if you will) is nearly all recorded, except for some vocal tracks that need to be re-done, and some friends of ours are going to help us out with some instrumentation.
I gotta say: This record is the fucking bomb diggity.
It better be, anyways. We've worked hard enough!
It's very lo-fi, as it was recorded on freeware, using a borrowed USB microphone. Although that (cheap) technology was used to get the music from us to you, the actual music itself is very basic. The album isn't all "acoustic" per se, as we use chord organ which needs to be plugged in to run the fan...But everything on this record is analogue. No synthesized imstruments, no drum machines, no chorus or reveb on the vocals...Just what sounds we can make with the things we have lying about the apartment - guitars, banjos, hands, etc.
I'm not sure if anyone bothers to check up on this thing, as we never update it, but if you do:
THANK YOU!
Thanks to everyone who was ever complimented us, booked us for a show, given us a place to crash, bought our simple little music, or even just talked to us over the internerd. We really appreciate the support we've recieved.
Even though this music is about fun, and we do have fun making it...It can be hard. We don't have much time or money, and we squeeze this out of ourselves like a forty-pound baby on a constant basis.
We do this for an excuse to meet new friend, and a way to travel about and see old ones.
The record is actually available for pre-order now at our home label,
Pop Monster Records, and may eventually be released on
Valiant Death Records...But who knows. What's available now is just the first pressing - limited 20. We packaged it ourselves...The EPs are on two 3" CDrs. It's really neat, trust me.
So, whew. Thanks for caring, if you do.
