The Word Lover's Dictionary- Julia Heifetz editor. It was originally published in the 70's, she spent over a decade on its compilation. It's a lot of fun.

I also recommend the New York Times Dictionary of Misunderstood, Misused and Mispronounced Words.

What the hell's a mallord?

(I could get my own copy of Mrs. Byrne's off the shelf, but that would require getting out of my chair.)

In regards to the "S" list I was unable to find "spoffokins" anywhere.

Not even in a copy of the OED (a couple of years out of date - but still an OED).

Where was this word found?
