I parted with my computer today. The logic board went out, a $400 repair. It's currently in the queue line at the Mac Store awaiting data retrieval and I will soon be in the financial office awaiting a loan to buy a new one.

Luckily, I was able to email my in-process final papers to myself. And I shouldn't lose any of my stuff--that's almost four years of academic work and journaling, several thousand mp3s, and a few thousand pictures--assuming the Mac-Men can effectively remove it all for me.

I've been wondering lately when it was going to go out on me.

Leaving it at the Mac Store was like leaving a child. It was horrible in a really disgusting kind of way. Yes, I developed a relationship with my computer. The only thing I'm really looking forward to is getting a smaller, lighter one.

Ugh. Back to the papers.
