I had no idea

I had to return 'home' for a little while to try to find some work. I will never hate my country and I despise all people who turn their back on the soil that gave them existence. Having said that, everything that I have heard about my country in the past 8 years has made me profoundly sad. Apparently after 9/11 the American media has gone very soft on GW. I think it is completely normal for the US to respond the way we did for about six months or so after the deliberate slaughter of civilians. Ugly or not, that is the way people behave in duress. However, by going home I have realized that the people entrusted with holding a mirror up to my nation failed to do so. I never trusted the press on any side of any ocean. But now I am truly devastated.
I love my country, I love the fact that I will raise my children in France.
