As promised...
As I promised, I am posting screenshots of the new areas in the expansion pack The Burning Crusade for World of Warcraft. I will explain each section of images before giving a link to the entire album to help you understand where I am and what I am doing in them.
Take note that there are no mobs, my level is either 1 or 70, I change gear and characters, and am able to run at any speed I wish on this emulation server.
Now for the little story behind what happened...
Around three in the morning last night I woke up. Sweat was dripping from my face and I was rather dizzy. I do not know what caused it, but I am happy that it woke me up as I would not have gotten the urge to do what I did. I started up Flock (my browser) and began looking through WoW: TBC screenshots. Slowly I realized just how much I wanted to play on the Alpha servers and just SEE these places and hear the music that accompanied them... so what did I do? I found a website that let me download my own server program and I downloaded TBC and began to play around. I was able to load whatever gear was configured in the items file, so I loaded up some nice looking gear (in my opinion) for my characters and ran amock!
Blood Elf
Silvermoon City
http://s93.photobucket.com/albums/l71/Kalyjai/Blood%20Elf%20-%20Silvermoon%20City/ My first thoughts about Silvermoon City were that it was going to be a mockery of Darnassus and as ugly as Orgrimmar. I also was not looking for another duplicate of Nightmare Before Christmas like I had seen in Undercity, nor did I want the simplicity of Stormwind.
Oh. My. God.
I got what I wanted and then some. Imagine a city where everything is carved of fine woods and silk hangs in every door and window. A place where the plants stay afloat in their enchanted pottery basins and the mops and brooms sweep by you without a body driving them onward. Where everywhere you look there is evidence of some form of magic and each bridge or tower above you is filled with beds, silks and tables. Now imagine that place filled with hundreds of townspeople, two auction houses, two banks, multiple taverns, adventurers galore, and statues of gorgeous elves. That is Silvermoon City. This place is bathed in eternal spring and sunlight, much like darnassus is eternally stuck in the autumn and twilight.
To start off, you enter the city one of three ways; A) Head into the main entrance on the south-side, B) Enter through the side along the Dead Scar, or C) Fly in on a Bat from any of the FlightPaths around Eastern Kingdoms. Walking around, I found the place to be very easy to navigate even without a good map or a guard to ask for directions. The only thing I could not figure out was how to get upstairs to the flightpath and the rest of the trainers areas and such. You will see in one screenshot I found a door that leads to emptiness, I assume that is where the staircase is supposed to be, but my emulation server cannot load it right, or does not know what to do. Whatever.. Silvermoon City is still the most BEAUTIFUL place I have seen in WoW.
Eversong Wood
http://s93.photobucket.com/albums/l71/Kalyjai/Blood%20Elf%20-%20Eversong%20Wood/ This place is the equivalent to Elwynn Forest/Durotar. You start your journey here and stay here until around level 10, then you move onto Ghostlands. There are planetariums littered throughout the woods and a dock with a nifty boat with blades on it. Also... The Dead Scar runs across the ENTIRE place, and even splits Silvermoon City and runs down through Ghostlands to Deatholme (I guess the equivalent of Deadmines? Stratholme Mini FTW! ). Inside the Planetariums and varius other builders there are these crystal covered platforms which I guess teleport you to the closest platform.. not sure.
Ghostlands
http://s93.photobucket.com/albums/l71/Kalyjai/Blood%20Elf%20-%20Ghostlands/ This place was very very interesting. Green glowing mushrooms, tons of little towns, mini necropolisis, and the Dead Scar.. as well as Deatholme! Check out the pictures to see what I am talking about. Also, it seems that there is a small Night Elven encampment on the water here, out on it's own little island. Moonwells and Night Elven architecture lie on that island, but there is a docked ship with a plank up to it, so I assume it's full of NPC night elves that are around like 10-20 for quests there. Also, for those that know Blood Elf history, you will be happy to see that there are troll establishments there too, showing that the jungle trolls that threatened to end the High Elf society are still fighting the Blood Elves. And Deatholme is pretty much self-explanitory.. Scourge is still trying to take the forests. And to top all of that off, it takes an instance portal to get in and out of all of the Blood Elf lands, I have two shots of the huge ass portal.
Draenei
The Exodar
http://s93.photobucket.com/albums/l71/Kalyjai/Draenei%20-%20The%20Exodar/ Like Silvermoon City, I thought I was going to be disappointed. But again like Silvermoon City, I was not.
This place is something all on it's own. It's an underground transdimensional ship with HUGE crystals all over the place, and when you get near one or an energy line you can hear the high pitch of electicity.. but it's a serene sound, not crackling. This place is very instance-esque only without the badguys! Whoo! Also very very pretty. I got lost in here about 15 times before eventually finding my way out.
Azuremyst and Bloodmyst Isles
http://s93.photobucket.com/albums/l71/Kalyjai/Draenei%20-%20Myst%20Isles/ These are the Draenei starting areas akin to Elwynn and Westfall. Not much to say except that they have a blue mist over Azuremyst, and a red mist of Bloodmist. Each island has crystals that jut out of the ground. Didn't explore these too much since I was obsessed with checking out the BE areas. Must got back later. I might just roll a Draenei Shaman for a new main on A-Side.
Outland!!!
http://s93.photobucket.com/albums/l71/Kalyjai/Outland/ I am not sure if I got a picture of the Dark Portal.... BUT HOLY FUCK! THAT THING IS RED, LOUD, AND SCARY/GORGEOUS! These are random shots from the sections of the continent. Hope you enjoy :D
By the by, I said hello to you, Karen. In the shot in Bloodmyst Isle :D Also.. find my "Me so sexy!" picture.. it's a riot.
