Well, Erin has gone home and I already miss her terribly. It seems each time we manage to meet things get even better, I become even more certain about the two of us. I become even happier.
I picked her up on Thursday and took her out to lunch before meeting up with my family for my brother's wedding rehearsal.
I already talked a great deal about the wedding in my
last post, so rather than go through it all again, let's just look at a few of the four hundred or so photos I've got of the event.
My brother Kerry Jr. and his wife, Kayla:

The Petit family. This is NOT every Petit out there. This is just the ones that made it to the wedding:
(We also took a group picture of the entire Faucheux family, my mother's side, but my camera doesn't take great pictures in low light. I got the above picture during a weekend photo swap with my dad, Aunt Wanda, Aunt Mona and Uncle Todd. I don't even know who took the original. I promise, all you Faucheuxs out there, I'll post that picture as soon as I can get a good one.)
Here I am giving my brother's car a proper send-off:
Erin was kind of nervous these two days, I know, because I have a very close family and they're dear to me. I wasn't nervous, though. I knew they'd all love Erin, and I was right -- I lost track of how many aunts, uncles and cousins came up to me at various points of the wedding to tell me how much they liked her. Here are some pictures of myself and Erin, the happiest I've ever been.
Saturday, after recuperating from the wedding, we met up with my friends Mike, Chase, Jenny, Katie and "Mooch," and spent a day shopping and at the movies. Erin was amused as I argued with Mike and Chase at the comic book shop (this is what we do -- we go there, we argue, we go out for burgers; this is the foundation of a great Geek friendship). We all went to see The Producers, which was so good that even Mike liked it, and he never likes ANYTHING. Then we met up with Kim, Jason and Jason's friend DJ for dinner at Marigny's in New Orleans, then we took Erin on a short walking tour of the French Quarter. Hopefully next time we'll get to see even more of it. This was important too -- my friends are every bit as dear to me as my family, amd just like my family, many of them told me in private how much they liked her. I never doubted it for a moment.
(It wasn't until we were on our way home that I realized even though Erin and I both had our cameras, we'd neglected to take any pictures. I hope to rectify that the next time she comes down, because I'd love to let her meet up with these guys again.)
Sunday we took it easy. Went to Church, where Erin got to listen to the choir I'm in (along with Heather, Aunt Mona and Uncle Joe and Carl), then lounged around until the Steelers game. Erin is cute as hell when football is on -- she gets as excited and animated over the Steelers as everyone in my nutty family does over the Saints, with the obvious exception being that the Steelers won. Then we went over to Aunt Mona's for a gumbo she and Heather whipped up just for the occasion. Until then, Erin caught up on her LiveJournal and the cat kept her company.
Monday, yesterday, was the one day we really got to ourselves. After sleeping late and watching the rest of my Firefly DVDs (which we started with before we had to evacuate for Katrina), I took her out shopping at World Market, Border's and a few other places. We wound up at Esplanade Mall because Erin wanted to get some of Amy's Country Candles -- I brought some for her and her mother the first time I met them last summer. We also stopped at Cafe Du Monde, where she got her mother some of their signature coffee and I treated her to beignets. Erin, being adorable, had a little trouble with the powdered sugar.
Then she got back at me for taking her picture.
We came home, got some dinner... watched March of the Penguins and Serenity.
And this morning I took her to the airport.
God, I hated doing that.
Leaving her gets harder each time. And the only thing that makes it better is that being together gets even more and more wonderful. Love can be a lot of things. It can hurt. It can uplift. It can be silly.
It can be sweet.
"Love is what keeps her in the air when she ought to fall. Tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her home." -- Mal Reynolds
I believe that.
I love you, Erin. I can't wait to be with you again.
