Happy NaNoWriMo!

I hope everybody had a great Halloween, and I hope you all enjoyed the Halloween Party over at Think About It Central. Now it's November 1st, though, and that means it's time for a new challenge. For the third year in a row, I'm going to attempt to conquer National Novel Writing Month. If you haven't heard of it before, the challenge is actually pretty simple. In the 30 days from the beginning to the end of November, write an original 50,000-word novel. The firing gun went off at midnight.

The traditionalist in me wanted to stay up past midnight and start writing then and there, but the teacher in me that has to wake up at 5 o'clock in the morning couldn't afford to stay up that late. I hoped to get a little work done before I went to school this morning. As it turned out, I never made it -- woke up sick to my stomach and called in sick.

I slept until 10 o'clock, then when I woke up I was feeling better. I managed to get some writing done. I'm stopping -- for now -- at 1865 words. Not bad for a couple of hours.
