You know what's really annoying me today?
When I mention to someone that I've finished Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, I keep getting, "Oh, I'm not going to read it, just tell me how it ends."
I could tell you how it ends, sure. But if you didn't read it, if you weren't part of that adventure, how can you possibly understand it? The ending is meaningless without the journey. Are we that lazy? Or just impatient? Maybe people just don't appreciate what it takes to tell a story anymore.
Well, I've made an executive decision. I'm not telling the ending to anyone. Yeah, there are a million other ways for them to find out, but I don't want to be a part of it. I'm a teacher. I spend ten months out of the year trying to get kids to read a damn book, why should I help their lazy-ass parents avoid it?
