Under Construction: The Love Shack

May 30, 2006 21:39

Before he left to go back to Baton Rouge yesterday, my brother asked that somebody working on my sister's soon-to-be home, the "Love Shack," get some pictures as the construction continued. I think he just wanted to prove to his wife, Kayla, that we're actually crazy enough to build something like this in my parents' back yard. Well, we are, and here are just a few photos of the construction to demonstrate. This will also serve the added function of actually proving if my brother bothers to read these journal entries. Here's how the construction stood when my brother left yesterday -- just click on the thumbnail for a bigger image:

Heather got home from work to survey the construction:

Then our neighbor, Charlie Gaubert, stopped by to offer his own inimitable brand of expert advice:

Finally, we hoisted up all four walls, which effectively negates my sister's frequent whine of "I don't even have any walls!" when she wants someone to feel sorry for her. The last shot is me holding up my end of the wall while my dad came over to nail the sucker in:

That was yesterday. Today I spent the afternoon doing some shopping -- there's a very special birthday coming up this weekend. When I got home, I got to work on my DC Comics advance reviews for this week. Here's what I covered:

ABC A-Z: Top 10 and Teams #1 -- Good
Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight #206 -- Fair
Crisis Aftermath: The Spectre #1 -- Great

Ion #2 -- Good
Lucifer #74 -- Good
Warlord #4 -- Poor
Wraithborn #6 -- Average

And here's one holdover from last week: Thunderbolt Jaxon #4 -- Good

warlord, infinite crisis, work, ion, batman, love shack, spectre, family, lucifer
