It has been a while. So much has happened I have no idea where to start.
Just when I thought global warming took over and Finland wouldn’t experience a winter we had a massive snow storm followed by a good week of double digit negative temperatures. I’ve been out with every Pekka, Janni and Mia (no such thing as Tom, Dick and Jane) on the ski tracks. Ohhhhh man if anything in my life could be described as a fetish its Nordic skiing.
During Christmas I went to Japan. I loved it there. SENSORY OVERLOAD!!! Does everything have to have bells and whistles connected with it. I have never in my life seen grown men reading telephone book size Manga porn comics on subways. Oh so many oddities, including pachinko. I can’t even comment on that. I guess life in Tokyo isn’t stressful enough so people have to go into a parlor where the ambient white noise has to be louder than a F-15 taking off. Ahhh I thought I was freaky but man I am really, really conservative when I compare myself with those perverts. I did think the toilette seat warmer was a great idea and all the temperature bidet type thingie sprays that insure no skid marks was really awesome too. REALLY IT WAS!!!(snicker) It was a good trip and I definatly have to go back. (God I love freaks)
I take this wood shop course and with wood shop there is metal shop. I am in the process of constructing a chandelier for the kitchen out of old silverware, pots pans etc. It’s my small homage to save the planet. Actually Helsinki is something of a Mecca in terms of Scandinavian design and I have run into my fair share of designers and the price of which they sell their recycled “creations” I thought it’s about time I get in on the action and maybe make a euro or two on the side (well in the future maybe)
Work has been keeping me very busy. I love it. I have noticed there has been a big change in the type of co-workers. They are all professionals now days. I mean most of my colleagues are lawyers, accountants, journalists, graphic designers. It’s awesome to deal with people that have worked in different industries. There is a certain kick in this job. I thought when I started that okay maybe this will be a temp type thing until I find something better but now I think this is the job for me. I always get the comment that I should go into advertising but ugg when times are bad. I doubt that I’d be able to survive.
Tiina is officially over ½ way done with Business school. She doesn’t bitch about it as much as she used to. She works a lot too which makes brings me to the next set of news. I am planning on going to Shanghai. There is a shit load of work for me there and the pay packages are awesome so maybe as early as next fall. The stints are only for a year so it’s nice to know I can come back home eventually. Tiina is almost in China as much as she is here so the relation ship won’t suffer.
That’s my 15 minutes and I should try updating more often. Time sigh…. Always a problem.
