I really have no qualms with disliking the character herself for whatever reason (even though I disagree), but it's when the hate is so obviously coming from a place of "how dare they imply that the Doctor could love this woman who is not Rose, the sight of her alone makes me want to puke," etc. that gets me all worked up about fandom.

Yes! Me too. I love Rose but I find it utterly ridiculous and infuriating when fandom disregards the fact that just because she was a great character doesn't mean that there aren't others who are just as awesome if not more so, especially because the only reason they disregard this is because they see them as a threat to the Doctor/Rose relationship.

I'm very concerned about River and her future with the Doctor, especially now that their timelines are crossed because the message got there too early. I suspect woefullness to occur with whatever transpires next week.

I didn't even think of that! I assumed Moffat was setting River up as a companion for next season. I know it's early, but I figured because they're having only five episodes next season they're making a head start by using this season to set up the next.
