She ran to him before he had even gotten all the way out of the building. Blaise felt his arm fall to his side from his new lack of support.
“Careful, Mione. I’m a little rusty.” His voice was hoarse but his claim held no weight. Hermione felt his kisses were just as good as-if not better than-before. He did walk stiffly, she noticed, and she kept pace with him.
The two men hugged-in an unexpectedly emotional way, though still platonic-upon reunion.
“Welcome back, Draco.”
“Thanks for taking care of her, Blaise.”
And then they left.

Draco wrapped his long fingers around his thumb, staring into space, relaxed. He was sure he had seen it.
Mouth. Another mouth-darker. And…was that a tongue?
Teeth and hands and... It was too much.
Overwhelming.
“Draco?” It was Pansy. Still, he didn’t respond. Nothing would break him from this trance.
“Draco?”
“Drake-o.”
“Blah blah blah Hermione.” That was what he heard. “Blah blah mudblood blah Granger blah blah blah. Crying.”
He stood up with sudden worry and grabbed her shirt. “Where, Pansy?”
Hands on her hips. “Girl’s bathroom.”
“Thank you.”
And suddenly, the second mouth he saw didn’t matter.

Naturally, as head boy and head girl, their rooms were next to each other. And the Slytherin common room was adjacent to that-which was only by luck. Draco had requested an assistant-most preferably Blaise Zabini-to help perform his duties. It was refused, but he was glad the duties of which he spoke were never asked about.
The duties were, of course, his of a man. Satisfying Miss Granger.
She was so much woman. So much softness and curves.
Undiscouraged, Blaise acquired an invisibility cloak and made a nightly trip to the head dorms.
Hermione was always satisfied.

As it turned out, Capture the Flag was a more physical game than Draco or Blaise had been lead to believe.
The two felt the only reasonable revenge was to tackle her and perhaps show her a more physical game.
“Red Rover?” she teased.
“No.”
“Duck, duck, goose?”
“What?”
They eyed each other. She was crazy.
“Um…tag?”
“No.”
“What about-“
“You’re killing us, Hermione,” Blaise whispered next to her ear.
“I know. But the rules did say,” she grabbed the flag she had glimpsed only shortly before. “You can’t put the flag in your pants. Sorry boys, I win!”

This would be her penultimate boyfriend. She promised herself. Twice. On a bible.
Ron had been rude and ungrateful.
Fred had been too smart for his own good.
Harry just hadn’t worked out.
Viktor was sweet, but too full of himself.
Oliver worked too hard.
George was too much like his twin.
Remus felt too guilty about everything.
Seamus was a dead end.
Neville was too shy.
That waiter-Angus?--was a cheater.
Draco would be her penultimate boyfriend. He still had a few miles left in him and then she could have Blaise.
Because she never had tasted chocolate.
