My favorite claim rep from my former temp job emailed me back! Kerry was the one that was really cool and I've gotten to know the most. He's into music just as much as I am. And the one whose band is supposed to be opening for Queens of the Stone Age in the future. He sent a message to my twin sister Kim and I just to update him about what we've been up to, how we left our jobs to pursue our careers, hopefully going to SXSW this year, etc. Here's his reply:

Hey Blair and Kim. I am in FL and have been since I left L.A. The work load has been a mother fucker here. I am up at 3 and off of my last house of the day with a flashlight. I stayed to get files done over Christmas and headed home for my sis's wedding to return after the new year. Good for you on the change. FUCKING GO FOR IT!!!!! its the only way to break into that business. I wish I was the one to ask for connections but I am out of the loop right now. I haven't talked to everyone in my band in a couple of months. I think i'll just have to get home and see if it breaths or not. Happy Holidays and let me know what happens, I may need the connection help more than you. Thanks for your help and yes SXSW is worth the trip.

Geez! I didn't think he was going to Florida to do even more claims. That sucks! And it sounds like he's working even more so there than he was here, what with Hurricane Katrina and all. Weird! It was great hearing from him though, and receiving a lot of encouragement from him in the process.

After a lot of thinking, I am seriously considering talking to my parents about taking any kind of job (or jobs) I can get in New York, and move up there before pursuing something full time. I'll admit, I knew this job search wasn't going to be easy, but it's even harder being that I live in Louisiana. Perhaps I'll try to waitress for a while to save up more money and get a couple of jobs in New York and see what happens. That's what I'm looking to do now.
