Tempus Fugit Part Two
Part Two-
Jack opened the door. "Sorry, we're closed...training day"
The man stayed where he was. "Sorry, I can’t help you, as I said we are closed."
"Jack," the old man spoke and Jack really looked at him his eyes squinting and studying the man before him.
"Ianto?" Ianto nodded at Jack's recognition he walked in as Jack moved for him.
Jack went to tap his earpiece to call Gwen, but Ianto held up his hand; his other hand reached into his jacket and brought out the object from the house.
"Last night I found this" he held the object out to Jack. "Please don’t blame Gwen, I told her to go home." Jack reached out a hand to Ianto's cheek, hardly beliving his own eyes.
He looked into Ianto's eyes feeling the wrinkles that now adorned his face. "Guess I won’t have to die young anymore."
"You are not going to stay like this Ianto." He took the object from Ianto's hand and studied it. "Lazrous..."
"You know what it is?" Ianto leaned against the desk top.
"I know the symbol." Jack shivered.
"What does it mean?"
"Something to do with life, the power to make people old or young...with a price."
There was a bleep from Jack's earpiece, he clicked it and Gwen spoke. "Jack I've got a bit of a problem down here, can you get rid of the tourist?"
Jack clicked his earpiece. "Come on".
The cog door rolled back and they walked in, Gwen looked up with an open mouth. "Who's this?"
Ianto wandered over to the coffee machine, he had had the worst tasting cup of tea he had ever tasted at the hospital and badly needed tea.
"What’s the problem Gwen?"
"It's the computer; it’s going mental, bits of it are shutting down. Aren’t you going to introduce me to your friend?"
Jack pushed forward on the balls of his feet slightly and pressed some keys studying the information on the screen.
"It's Ianto, Gwen, he has been aged by this thing he found last night and we need to find out everything we can about it and fast. Now let’s sort this out and we can...ooohh no."
Gwen was staring at Ianto. "What is it?" looking back in Jack's direction.
Jack stabbed at the keys, trying to get in control of the situation. "Dont do this to me!"
"What is it doing Jack?" Jack's head turned to look Gwen in the face.
"It's the computer. It’s dying"
"Dying?" Gwen asked.
"It's an organic life form its systems are like organs and they are shutting down."
"But how?"
"I don’t know...”
Ianto walked over to the other computer, he tapped some keys. "Jack..."
The man visibly aging by the second turned to Jack. "Get it out Jack, get that thing out now."
His eyes for a moment held Ianto's then he turned and ran, away from the hub as fast as he could until even Jack didnt know where he was.
"Fire!" Ianto shouted
Gwen sprayed the foam onto the laptop, sparks spitting out all over the hub and a red flashing light went off along with an alarm.
"Oh my god."
"Ianto what is it, what does that mean?"
"We have to get out, now!" Ianto pressed a number of keys on the keyboard and then grabbed Gwen's arm and dragged her over to the stone, they stepped on and started ascending.
They watched as aliens started to make there way into the main area of the hub.
"OH MY GOD, we have got to do something Ianto!" Gwen exclaimed
Ianto looked at her. "We are, we are stopping them."
They reached the water tower and they stepped off together.
"We have to get far away."
The tower made a twek noise and the metal started to twist. "Come on!"
They were fifty feet away when the top of the tower exploded, throwing metal around the Plass luckily there weren’t many people around but the ones that were there were screaming.
