When Siwon says that one of the young, attractive girl PAs on the next Super Junior movie looks like a nice Christian girl, Shindong and Donghae immediately team up, making lewd gestures, speaking in innuendo, and generally encouraging him to go ask her out at every available opportunity. But when Siwon actually stands up one day and announces his intention to date her, they clam up so fast Shindong’s teeth actually clack. Donghae squeaks and scurries off, and Eunhyuk, an innocent bystander, looks at first stricken, and quickly morphs into panicked. Shindong backpedals quickly, going from arguing reasonably about ELF’s reaction to practically clinging to Siwon’s leg in the span of about thirty seconds.
Siwon shakes him off, walks over, and strikes up a conversation about the merits of the Old Testament. It turns out the girl is a good Christian girl, who also happens to enjoy soft jazz and doesn’t think Siwon looks like the Joker or a horse. She’s all Siwon talks about at dinner, and he’s completely oblivious to the looks being exchanged between the rest of the members, and the nervous glances shot towards the corner of the table where Hankyung and Heechul sit, food untouched, faces like stone. Siwon finishes his meal and stands with a flourish.
“We’re going out on Tuesday,” he announces happily, and skips off. Hankyung and Heechul wait a beat, then lock glances with each other and rise in unison, heading into Hankyung’s (their) room, the door closing with an ominous click behind them. The rest of the table exchange ‘this isn’t going to end well’ looks.
“I’m not going to like this,” decides Eeteuk.
“It’s going to be awesome,” says Kangin.
“What?” asks Yehsung, “What’s going on? What’d I miss?”
The morning of Siwon’s late lunch/early dinner date finds him in the living room, contemplating two different coloured shirts with Sungmin, Kibum watching television on the couch. Hankyung bursts into the room, eyes wide, breathing labored. He looks wildly around the room and finds Siwon, scrambles across the room and grabbing his arm, and Sungmin’s too, for good measure, and starts to drag them off.
“It’s Heechul, Heechul just, he just,” and then he goes into a long string of Chinese, panic in every syllable, and now Sungmin and Siwon are running too, Kibum hot on their heels. They burst into the hall and find Heechul sprawled on the floor, half propped up on the wall, face white, eyes at half mast. They land hard around him, hands fluttering ineffectually before Kibum takes charge, pushes them all aside and feels his forehead. He jerks back with a curse.
“He’s freezing. Siwon, get him into the bed.” Siwon carries him inside and places him carefully into Hankyung’s bed, tucking the comforter tightly around him. Kibum waits a few moments, feels his forehead again, and shakes his head.
“He’s too cold, Kibum says seriously. “He needs body heat.” Sungmin takes a substantial step backwards. Siwon looks immediately to Hankyung, who has a deer in the headlights moment before putting his hand to his head and swooning dramatically. Sungmin rolls his eyes and edges for the door, concern gone. Kibum shakes his head, face perfectly straight.
“He’s in shock, not warm enough. It has to be you.” Siwon hesitates, then sighs and lifts the blanket.
“It’s best if it’s skin on skin,” adds Hankyung helpfully.
“Bye,” says Sungmin.
Kibum joins him back on the living room couch a few moments later, and they watch television in silence for a little while.
“You should be ashamed of yourself,” says Sungmin. Kibum shrugs and changes the channel.
The next day, Siwon is sitting in the kitchen, depressed. “She didn’t believe me. But hyung needed me.” Hankyung presses homemade cookies into his hand, still warm from the oven, and Heechul drapes himself over Siwon’s back, chin resting on Siwon’s shoulder and cooing comfortingly.
Siwon sighs and eats another cookie. Hankyung and Heechul exchange triumphant looks, and fistbump behind Siwon’s back.
The next day Siwon checks his phone, leaps to his feet, declares that he’s gotten another chance, and commences with the victory dance. Kangin grins so wide he dimples, Eeteuk sighs and rolls his eyes towards the heavens in a why me expression, and Yehsung tries to look like he comprehends subtext.
Hankyung and Heechul go for broke.
