wahh, just started Angel Beats!, and I have to say, it's not bad at all! I wasn't really interested in starting another anime series, because they tend to drag. Like, does a drrr episode without Shizuo really have to go 20 minutes? No, man, everything else is just goddamn filler.
Angel Beats does have its problems, of course. If you want logical anime (ha ha), this is not it.
cue minorrific spoilers:
why am I doing this these are like puny spoilers
episode 2, the underground mechanics decide to blow up the the entire underground base, when, really? Why couldn't they just evacuate to their alternate site, and blow the Angel up a little earlier, before she reaches the Guild? It's obvious the Angel has no ill intent, and she would never use the machinery there to create her own weapons. Also, didn't the mechanics say something about using their memory to create "replicas" of gadgets (that work just like the real thing, hey)? So it makes it even more unlikely that the Angel would know how to make weapons. ehh whatever, I guess watching anime was not meant to be a thinking sport.
End Super-Tiny Spoiler Which Was Really A Rant I Guess
This anime also contains its joyful amount of fanservice. It's got groping, chicks with electric guitars and drums, ambiguously gay relationships (Oh man, Hinata/Otonashi, the story writers planted the seed knowing full well), glasses, etc etc, but I enjoyed it even though I knew I was being manipulated with gimmicks, because it's so well executed, haha.
Also, does anyone else feel that the NPCs are not just incredibly well-programmed replicas? They seem too emotional, and too real, and too resistant to the authority of the teachers to just be programmed drones or whatever Yuri thinks they are...
yeah, watching third episode this is addictive man
waaah Iwasawa-sannnn TT_TT
all of the in-depth character arcs are so sad >_<
