River of Eternity - Alan

Jun 14, 2009 15:10

I've been wanting an Alan Dawa Dolma CD for a while now, and I'm very happy to have one now.  My only problem with it is this:  Why do Japanese companies have to be so skimpy on the amount of material that goes into their lyrics books if they charge more for CDs made in Japan?!  Honestly, Alan is pretty (but not in a way that makes me want to hurt her).  If a singer is pretty, don't you make lyrics books with lots of pictures to show her off?  I guess what the PVs are for, but you have to pay extra to get the DVD (which I didn't do).  You can download the PV for "River of Eternity" and a few other songs here.

I have to post a few videos of her before I go into the EP I've uploaded.

This is the theme song for the 2nd part of "Red Cliff."  You can also find a translation for both theme songs here, thanks to

Alan sings mostly in Japanese, though, because she's under Avex now and she also plays the erhu:

Her voice works really well with folk songs:

A little background on Alan:  She's ethnically Tibetan and can speak Tibetan.  She uses Tibetan in some of her songs.  Alan is from China's Sichuan province, which is often Romanized as "Szechuan" based on the Wades-Giles Romanization system, which is generally replaced with Pinyin these days.  At one point, she played the erhu for Feel Fine Band, which must not have made it big because I can't find much on them.  Her first album was only a cover album, which you can download from this site, and it didn't really bring out her voice, but the next year she got signed on by Avex.  Her first Japanese album was "Voice of Earth."

"Kuon no Kawa" is the title of the Japanese version of "大江东去."  The EP includes the "Red Cliff" themes with Japanese versions.  The Chinese versions on the EP are different from the original movie versions and the Japanese versions are sung differently, too.
