I've been thinking a lot lately (go ahead ,laugh and get it over with) about life and everything that goes with it. For countless centuries people have asked "Why are we here?? What is the meaning of life??" and other such questions. Questions that no one seems to be able to answer. I can not say that I have the definitive answer, but I want to take a shot at it. If you are offended by someone posting their religious views here, then here is your warning not to read any further; however, I encourage everyone to read the following and contemplate it.
First off- "Why are we here??" In my own views, we were put here because God wanted somebody to share all of His infinite love with, so He created Heaven and Earth and humans and everything else that was in the beginning. And it was good.
Second- "Why is there suffering in the world if God made everything good??" Again, I can't tell you the exact perfect answer, but I, like every one else, have my own view. We are put here because God loves us and wants to share His love with us, but he gave us free will. He gave us the free will to choose wether or not we want to live a life full of His love and mercy and His Son Jesus Christ's salvation. Adam and Eve blew it in the beginning, so sin entered the world, along with disease, famine, death, pain, agony, and suffering. Think about any relationship you've been in with your boyfriend/girlfriend. Were either one of you happy when one of you tried to control everything the other did?? I didn't think so. A truely, genuinely, uncondtionally loving person will give their loved one the free will to make their own choices, hoping that they'll make choices that will please them and will in turn be rewarded.
Third- "Well why doesn't God ever do anything for me??" Take a second and take a breath. There you are. You're alive aren't you?? You have a soul with the ability to judge right and wrong. Truely I say that these are gifts from God Almighty.
Fourth- "Why hasn't God rewarded me for serving Him." Jesus died on the cross and shed His blood so that all of our sins my be cleansed and that we may be presented unblemished before God. What a loving God He is to send His Son to us to die for our sins, to be the ultimate sacrifice for all of mankind! And your reward for serving God?? Only one word: Heaven. What greater reward can there be that to know that you will have the chance to live eternally in Paradise where there is no suffering of any kind?? None whatsoever.
Fifth- "Why do people die??" I have a better question, why is death considered the ultimate end?? If you have fully rejected and rebelled against God, then you had better hope death is the ultimate end, because I don't think Hell is a really great afterlife vacation home. Death may signify the finality of a person's earthly life, but it marks the beginning of the believer's eternal life in Heaven with God! Death is not an end, only the beginning of the most glorious time for a person. This reaches all the way back to the meaning of life. We are put here out of God's love and mercy and we are called by our Savior Jesus Christ to carry out His mission, to preach the Gospel. God places people on earth to try and reach out to those who decided to let Satan and sin lead them astray. That is the purpose of a person's life, to bring people to see join the Kingdom of God. All people are called to care for one another and love each other, friends and enemies all. But our true and loving Father gave humans the free will to decide what they want to do and who they choose to follow. But do not abandon hope because we know that many will not come to God, rather strive with those people so that they will not be numbered among the unregenerate! My deepest passion is for the Kingdom of the Lord and I feel that that is my calling, nothing gives me a greater joy than helping people and what better way to help someone by showing them how to spend an eternity being happy?? God bless you all and have a safe and happy New Year's.
Love in Christ,
Logan
