The moment he heard the bang, Sam shut his eyes. Smoke emanated from his gun’s rim. With his finger still pressed to the trigger and his arm still parallel with the ground, his eyes fluttered open with batted breath.
His brother lay motionless before him.
“Tommy?” Sam muttered, then said louder, “Tommy?!”
No response.
Sam dropped his weapon and rushed to Tommy to feel for life signals.
“Shit, no...please, I didn’t mean-”
Then Sam felt something cold prodding his stomach and then a bang. As he fell, he saw Tommy rising up like the smoke from his brother’s gun.
