Starscream studies Blackstar carefully, almost dispassionately, as if he were an experimental weapon that the red and blue Seeker needed to tweak to maximum power. He lays one hand on Blackstar's wounded chest.

"Priestess... Auspex, do you know the procedure for sealing a small area from unwanted external influences? A small area such as this room, to be specific," Starscream says.

//Sky, open a radio channel to myself and my other self--and keep it open. When you do, give me and my other self a streaming tactical feed. I'll return the favor. Starscream, you do the same. Sky is our anchor.//

Within seconds, Skyfire has opened the voice/data channel between the three of them, and started streaming tactical data to both Starscreams. It's pretty boring at the moment, reporting Skyfire's position (right there), velocity (none) and status (fine) on a continuous basis. Starscream sends the same tactical information back to Skyfire; it's a continuous reminder of each to the other, linking them--as they would be linked in exploring dangerous territory, or as allies in combat.

//There is more you'll need to prepare for, priestess. I will be doing something that will upset the balance of things just a bit, and you--or Primus--will have to make sure that the balance doesn't get a lot more than 'a bit' upset. //

//Understood.// Starscream replies, and likewise opens a channel. There is nothing more said - when one has to rely on another in combat, the time for discussion is over, and this will be a battle of sorts, if not one that's fought on the material plane.

Trusting the other Starscream like this feels natural because that Starscream is him, his mirror image altered by but a few strokes; and trusting Skyfire feels natural because to do so is old habit, and as comfortable as only the familiar can be.

It's not exactly like the millions of years of separation are forgotten and Starscream simply falls back into relying on Skyfire like he'd never done anything else. No, it's knowing that even after that separation and the errors of judgement that followed it, he can rely on Skyfire. It's as comforting as that, though the word "comfort" seems too warm and cushy to describe that sense of trusting-each-other in all its simplicity. The connection between Starscream and Skyfire just is.

The spectral once-Air Commander knows that if what his other self is planning to do is anything along the lines of what he thinks he's planning to do, it will be a perilous endeavour, but that's precisely why he's joining into it so unquestioningly. He can't let the other Starscream and Skyfire - his other self and his partner - do this alone.

It's one of the ground rules of exploration - you don't venture out alone.

*Auspex looks thoughtful for a moment, trying to think of the best method for doing that* I think so, yes.

*She approaches the wall, but pauses as Starscream comms her, turning to stare at him warily* //What are you planning? I'll warn you that Primus only has limited influence over the Allspark. He was not at liberty to stop the imbalance before. There may be little I can do, if you attempt too much.//

"I am planning," Starscream says impatiently, "to restore Blackstar to his 'normal' self. To do that, I have to channel more of what was taken from him, back to him. And since that is not the sort of thing you just message Logistics and ask them to send over a few tankersful, I have to open a channel and ask nicely." Starscream's tone is very dry; he gives Auspex an impatient look.

*She just looks at him, for several moments. He might cause enough damage to the Allspark that it can imbalance again? And doesn't he risk merging Blackstar with the rest of the Allspark, effectively banishing him from this plane again? He and his counterpart... have Skyfire to hold them here, and she doubts he'll let them go easily, or vice versa, for that matter. But Blackstar..? She sighs. She doesn't know.*

*She turns to the wall, touches it, optics darkening, as she confers with Primus. All this doubt, anger, fear, sadness, she gives to him; he reminds her that she can trust him, even though she remains very much unsure of Starscream's planned procedure. She asks for protection on this room, as well as the people in this room, and protection for the Allspark, if possible.*

*The room seems to warm to the power of Primus, spreading through the walls and ceiling and floor, wrapping it as she would wrap the energy around herself in commune. She takes a moment to draw in the comfort of being surrounded by this barrier of sorts, and once again prays that this strange plan of Starscream's will work, and without disaster.*

*That finished, her optics flicker online again, and she repositions herself by Blackstar's feet again* If it won't interfere, I will stay in contact with Blackstar, to allow Primus to speak to him. *'In case something goes wrong' is the implication, but it's not an accusation; what he plans may be perfectly fine. However, she doesn't want to be reckless about it*

*She hesitates for a moment. Having two Starscreams here draws up some very tricky questions about the nature of sparks, and how the different dimensions of a universe, and it's counterpart denizens, are intertwined. This may not be an issue, depending on how it works... she glances at Skyfire, before comming him, as he is the least likely to bristle at the question*

//You will be all right, anchoring both? I don't know how much strength it takes for that, assuming they're not simply different facets of the same spark. Please... let me know if you'll need strengthening; I can channel Primus to you if need be. I don't want to risk any of you... losing each other... if there is something I can do to help prevent it.//

Finally, she comms Echoshift. //I'm... not really at liberty to explain all of it to you, but we're going to attempt some energy channeling, and things may get... strange. I'm really not certain what will happen, myself... but will you keep an optic on Blackstar? This should restore his strength, but I don't want him to be hurt in the process. That would be of much help.//

Skyfire smiles at Auspex.

// Don't worry. He's not doing this for himself. That makes all the difference. //

Starscream exchanges glances with his counterpart, and then spreads his hands over Blackstar's immaterial torso, neatly bracketing the hole over his lasercore. Ruby optics narrow; that will have to be repaired before they are through--will the restoration of Blackstar's essence patch it, or will they have to find something to patch it with?

It's still there, that thread of the Allspark in his own spark--stronger, if anything, since his near-translation with the other Starscream. Starscream reaches into it, reaches for Blackstar's own bit of the Allspark--

And hits a barrier. Blackstar is resisting the touch of the Allspark or anyone through it. Starscream has a good guess as to why.

His turbines sigh. He's going to have to do this the hard way.

As much as he would like to be whole again, to have his strength and powers back, Blackstar is wary. He's pretty sure what the Commander has in mind - the Allspark, which he has been studiously ignoring, and then more than ignoring, blocking with what strength he does have left. He's weaker now; it makes it harder to resist the siren's call, but he's not finished here.

It's not that he doubts Starscream at all. He has the utmost confidence in his Air Commander to pull off whatever he sets his CPU to. Slagger's too damn stubborn and lucky for anyone's own good, which is for the best, really.

Blackstar's just worried about what this is going to cost them. All of them.

Starscream places his own hands on Blackstar from the other side, forming a near-perfect mirror image of his counterpart. As he reaches out, it's not to Blackstar yet, but to his other self.

Starscream has only once barely touched, barely brushed against the Allspark. Even with the recent memory of that moment in the other Starscream's embrace, he's not sure how much of his own inability to touch the other side is still in place. He's not sure which possibility he'd like less, either - if he's still barred from the Allspark, he would fail Blackstar and, much worse, fail his other self and Skyfire. If he can touch the Allspark, it would open a whole other box of implications he's not too keen to think about yet - one paradigm shift within the scope of a few hours is enough.

His stance stiffening, Starscream orders those thoughts to stay down. He can't affords doubts with what he's about to do now. //I'm not familiar with the Allspark,// he reminds the other Starscream and Skyfire, reaching out becoming as open an asking for help as anyone will ever get from Starscream. //You will need to guide me.//

Starscream shifts his attention momentarily to his other self (and Skyfire). //A crude analogy, but if you have touched the Allspark, like Blackstar or I, it remains with you, and it's like having part of yourself in shared network memory with everyone else. It's possible to 'firewall' that part of yourself off, isolate yourself from it--as Blackstar has done since he was attacked. It's also possible to just ignore it most of the time, as I do--though that's rather like ignoring a tankerful of Libyan high grade when you're dying of fuel starvation. Actually being in the Allspark is indescribable.// There's a tremendous longing in his spark at even the faint memory of it; his body shudders involuntarily. What the spark longs for means the death of the shell.

Now he includes Blackstar again. //I'm going to make some contacts and gather what's needed to restore Blackstar. Blackstar, when I'm ready, you'll have to lower that barrier you've put up.//

Starscream takes in the explanation. It's nearly abstract to him, but he gets the picture, and even the thought of it fills him with longing - or maybe his counterpart's longing is echoing in him. Starscream knows he can't afford to dwell on that thought - he has more 'unfinished business' than ever.

Unfortunately, what he shouldn't think about is precisely what he will have to connect to within the next few minutes. //Thank you for the warning,// he replies, again speaking only to his other self and Skyfire.

Then he reaches out more deeply, drawing on the memory of that recent moment of ecstatic light and blurring boundaries to find his connection with his other self. He delves into that connection, trying to find the connection to Blackstar within. //Let me reach you,// he urges, this time including Blackstar along with the other Starscream and Skyfire.

There's a faint, wary air to Blackstar's look as he nods at the first Starscream. As he'd suspected, the Commander plans on calling and drawing from the Allspark. The wounded ghost stifles a sigh, knowing that Starscream would likely misinterpret it as fear, or worse, doubt.

Blackstar doesn't fear what will likely happen. That's the problem; he wants it, to feel that connection again. Even as discontent as he'd been, the Allspark had still been... the Allspark.

Starscream, however, has settled many things since his return from there, whereas Blackstar hasn't even begun. He may be weak now, but his ties to this world are still quite strong.

His gaze shifts to the other Starscream at the request-command, and Blackstar nods again, one brisk motion of assent. Steeling himself to face that call again, he sets his expression into a hard mask and lets go of the wall he's built up.

*Auspex flinches ever so slightly, and she blinks up at Starscream with pensive, wondering concern. The raw yearning she sensed from him, the shudder... and the answering echo from his counterpart... they're probably talking about the Allspark.*

*And... they are going to resist that?*

*Well... Skyfire seems to have faith in Starscream, and he is known for being... rather stubborn about anything he puts his mind to, including resisting the supernatural. She senses his connection to Skyfire, and his fierce loyalty, and again reassures herself: she doubts he'll be letting Skyfire go any time soon. She's not as sure about Starscream from the other universe, as she senses some uncertainties... but she's fairly confident the other will keep him here as well.*

*But this longing of the native Starscream... this will hurt him. A lot. All three of them will have pain, but him, especially, as he has very little remaining to tie him here. She sighs softly; she'd lend him support and reassurance, if he'd let her, but that pride of his would unlikely accept it from anyone, save perhaps Skyfire. She reluctantly leaves him be. Both of him.*

*She concentrates the majority of her attention, then, on Blackstar himself, calling up the slight field of power that enables her to touch the ghost. She's relegated to his foot again, and she pats it absently, as Primus gathers power there. He speaks to his wounded child, as Blackstar lets down his barriers, and lets the Allspark make contact with him.*

Stay here. Stay.

Starscream can touch Blackstar now... and he feels his other self's halting touch as well. He could pour strength into the aching hollowness that is Blackstar right now--and end up little more than a gossamer wisp himself. That strength will have to come from others... freely given.

Perhaps, he muses to himself, Auspex could simply bestow the power of Primus--but she's always said that Primus does not have power over the Allspark. Besides, it's not her responsibility. It's Starscream's.

When did I start being responsible?

He reaches into that thread of self-otherness that is the Allspark--no, more than reaches, dives into it, follows it until it is far, far more than a mere thread of awareness. Awash in that torrent of light and spirit and personalities, he calls....

Within the chamber, Starscream's body stands still, optics barely alight; their lambent glow is easily visible in the deepening gloom. The air is already the dry, slightly acrid air of Cybertron; a chill accompanies the gathering gloom, and a faint whiff of metallic ash drifts in from somewhere. A faint phosphoresence glimmers at the edges of his wings.

Elsewhere...

Starscream is there, and he is here, he can feel the dimensional tide washing over his feet and the others are here, they've been waiting for him to return, Cybertron is very far away--

Skyfire is back there. He can feel the big shuttle's presence, hear his constant status reports chattering away in the back of his CPU. Blackstar is there, and he needs help.

Cadence, Iceraker, Midnight, Swiftwing... He calls them, his lost Seekers, the ones for whom he was and still is the one and only Air Commander. You are needed; we've a Seeker down and he needs your strength.

A flash of dark green and lime green; Cadence replies in a deep and mellifluous voice: Show me the way, Commander. Arctic blue and black; Midnight assents with a thought. The others gather in strength and presence; Starscream is soon awash in their strength.

This is the way, he says, showing them the delicate thread that is Blackstar's taste of the Allspark.

This was ill-done, Cadence says gravely, noting the spiritual havoc that was wreaked on Blackstar.

Back in the Temple, the gloom is complete; the only light is the glow of optics and the phosphorescence that plays wildly about the two Starscreams and spreads to Blackstar. If someone were to look around, there are perhaps a few too many optics for the number of people in the room; on the other hand, there's a feeling of more than the six of them present.

Starscream's form shimmers and sparkles as his attention is turned to what's beyond. He lets his link to the other Starscream guide him, his consciousness holding on to it like a silver thread twining around another. Connected like this, he can feel Blackstar and his need, as well as his other self's determination to fill that need and make Blackstar whole again.

Don't do it alone, Starscream cautions the other, now speaking in images and feelings rather than words. Hold on to us.

As Starscream makes the connection, what he experiences washes over Starscream and echoes within. He cannot see the Allspark clearly, but he receives sensations, feelings... a sense of what is there. He is conscious of the desire (the other's? his own?) to move closer to that place, but he doesn't give in, holding on to the other and sharing his resolve to stay. It feels like he's firmly holding the other's hand, except that it's no physical action. Skyfire. Love. Home. Home is here.

Don't let go. Won't let go. In his connectedness, Starscream can feel that a call is made - and answered. He isn't, he cannot be, in their midst, but he speaks to them in sensations of welcoming, of acknowledging their strength and their eagerness to aid their Commander.

First one, and then the other, reach beyond where the wall once stood from that thread of the Allspark which constantly sings through Blackstar. He can feel the Starscreams as they reach through to him, can feel as one of them gathers himself and hurls headlong through the call, back, enveloping himself in the thread that binds them to everyone.

Blackstar yearns. To fly those skies, to touch the winds he can feel, to feel the tide and the alien sun warming his plating. He yearns to return... even as he repudiates it. He is not finished here.

It does not still the yearning, however.

Though made for him, on his behalf, he feels the call ripple throughout the ranks. One at first, and then another, followed by another and another, and still they come. He feels their touch upon him through the thread, he feels their regard as they pour in and fill this space with their presence, their strength.

Though most of these Seekers yet lived when he slipped the bonds of the Allspark, he knows them. Beyond the simple fact that being a Seeker goes beyond build and specification, goes beyond allegiance within faction, goes beyond perhaps even faction itself, he knows them. The Allspark exists outside the constraints of time and place, and these are the Air Command.

He knows their touch.

Although the others may see darkness and the thick twilight of the gloom broken only by the shine of too many optics and the spectral luminescence that wreathes the three spirits, Blackstar sees light. The bright, almost fiery to him, glow of their sparks fill the room. It's like being at the heart of a star, that regard, and still they come.

The hard mask is gone, replaced by a look of grateful wonder as he welcomes them.
