You're right, of course. blackwillem February 26 2004, 07:21:08 UTC
You're right, of course. That is what's happening.

Usually, I can get some kind of bearing on divisive issues. I can get some idea of what thought processes lead to either side of a debate -- most everyone can, I expect. But this just seems so very, very stupid a thing to debate that I can't grasp why it's important enough to require an amendment to the Constitution? Sheesh, what a waste of time and energy!

Maybe I ought to come up with my own list of "wedge" issues and hire myself a bevy of sarcastic reporters to inundate press conferences around the country.

"Congressman, how do you feel about Christians marrying Jews, realizing that a healthy percentage of your constituents believe that half of that family will reside in hell for not accepting your lord and savior? Do you think that their kids will get lonely?"

"Mr President, how do you feel about the fact that neither Jesus, nor any of his apostles ever committed the sin of eating bacon with their eggs as you did this morning? May we see a ritual of cleansing, please?"

"Mz. Representative, is it really the will of the people that you receive a pension for life because you spent 4 years learning that lawmaking is so complicated that it's easier and more lucrative to leave the job and become a lobbyist? What did you actually accomplish with the 1200 days or so you had to fill that patent leather chair of yours?"

Hmm, rough and unrefined but it could be fun. Never put money and time in the hands of an irritated gamer.
