Today was a really good day. I woke up at nine, took a shower, read some articles for English, decided not to go to English, slept until noon, ate lunch (vegetarian lasagna and my usual salad!), and went to drawing. For some reason, I really like drawing class. I can't draw in any way, shape, or form, but my teacher is so enthusiastic and encouraging that he makes me like what I draw. Today, we drew the negative space around bicycles, and he loved my take on zooming in on a detailed view of the gears. I'm now completely covered in charcoal and chalk, but I handed in a drawing that I felt good about, and the class didn't feel like it was three hours long today. I'm about to go to dinner with Will, and then I have another three-hour art class! But this one is fun because it's a foundation class, which means that we learn the basics of every media. My teacher for this third of the semester is crazy and loves snide comments. Today, we're going to share with the class photographic evidence of our environments (aka, dorm rooms), a list of all of the books we've read, movies we've watched, websites we've been to, and dreams that we've had since we've been here. We were supposed to do it last class, but it took the whole time because he kept asking for more details about whiteboard battles and really bad hall themes. I'm one of the few people who didn't go yet. Hopefully, it'll take the whole time this class and we won't actually have to do work!
