And now for something completely different...

I've had the best day that I've had for a while now. Everything went according to plan, except for two things that probably worked out for the better anyway.

I slept in until about 11AM, then got up and decided to go to Penrith today for some research into matters that interest me. Maybe even a little bit of writing on the side. Blacktown is the best place in the district for research, but Penrith has this little ice-cream place near the library that I love. They're the only place I know of that sells lemon ice-cream.

But it turned out that the trains were down for the weekend due to trackwork. I wasn't expecting this because I checked the trackwork boards before I left the house. It was a bit of an annoyance, but I guess not going into Penrith saved me some money for train fare to and from work this week. Means I don't have to dip into my bank account.

I ended up going to the St Marys library instead, because it was the closest one and usually empty on Saturday afternoons.

Now, the difference between the St Marys library and all the other ones is that I've been going there since I was seven and I've read all the good books in there already. I must have spent two and a half hours writing because I didn't want to go home with nothing accomplished. Having no distractions except for loud blaring music helps. I may even finish the tenth Turned On chapter if I have another good creative run like the one today.

I've been trying a new diet lately and this marks the first week that I've stuck to it without any mishaps. Basically it's been so warm lately that eating solid foods just makes me feel ill. I've only been eating half as often and sticking to fruit/vegetables/ice cream/drinks. I've already lost ten pounds these past four weeks. I am proud of myself.

I'm halfway through While I Live, by John Marsden. This is truly a unique book. It's like... how do I say it... imagine Harvest Moon crossed with Suikoden I mixed with a little Medal of Honor.

The main character's parents are killed, forcing her to take care of the farm by herself using only her dog and some of her neighbours and friends, but they are also part of a Liberation Army dedicated to rescuing POWs taken by the enemy country just across the border. Main character's farm happens to lie on that border. I'm loving it so much already. I hope the other two books are like this.

I gotta remind myself to get some more pre-paid credit for my phone tomorrow, then ring Chris and tell him that his ticket is here.
