so.
today went smoothly, as my personally mandated over time requirements have kicked in at work. i worked 3 hours of overtime today and i intend to do the same over the next few weeks, because based on some calculations i've made recently at this rate + overtime, i can reach my goal and then some WAY before April. the quicker i can be out of there and off to somewhere where my career can flourish, the better. and overtime was not a pain at all, in fact the later hours of the day are nice because the call frequency is lower. yey, for meeting goals. not that it matters much anyways, we didn't do much more than dwadle all afternoon anyways, but i'm seriously going to miss my training class once they shove us back out onto the phones again. sigh.
last night i threw a few cds i've never really listened to into my 5 disc changer to FINALLY get acquianted with:
1. Kate Bush - Lionheart ....excuse the expression, but wow. i had only listened to this once before, and it just refused to grab me.
but upon further review i'm happy to report that i'm very enamored with this album. i'm not a huge fan of early kate's vocals, but the songs
on this one completely make up for it. i also love how consistent the music is throughout, giving the songs a very connected feel. it's almost as
if you're listening to a crazy musical. this went directly onto my ipod after listening. GOLD STARS - WOW, HAMMER HORROR, IN THE WARM ROOM, OH ENGLAND MY LIONHEART****
2. Julee Cruise - The Art Of Being a Girl .... i've had this cd for a while, but i've just NEVER given it my full and proper attention. what a fool i've been. dark, lovely, atmospheric and very beautiful, this album is very ambient and creates some very hypnotizing soundscapes. this one will be going onto my ipod. GOLD STARS - YOU'RE STARING AT ME, BEACHCOMBER VOODOO, THE ART OF BEING A GIRL, CHA-CHA IN THE DARK***
3. Kate Bush - The Kick Inside .... as I stated earlier, i'm NOT a big fan of early Kate's vocal workings, but this album has some serious gems so I thought i would try again and to my suprise i wasn't totally dissapointed. i may just end up ripping my favorites and leaving the rest for dead. p.s. i really hate the song kite, wich is sad because i adore the lyrics. oh kate. GOLD STARS- MOVING, FEEL IT, STRANGE PHENOMENA, THE KICK INSIDE****
4. The Cure - Disintegration .... this was one of those cases of, "i've heard such amazing things about this album i better own it", so i did and barely listened to it. i never said i was smart. this one is beautiful. GOLD STARS - LOVE SONG, PICTURES OF YOU, LULLABY, FASCINATION STREET****
yes, i know that's only 4 albums. fuck you.
i had dinner tonight with my father at Cafe' Satori.
that was lovely.
3 days until NYC.
